For once, Phytotron and I agree. I'll take the Sam Adams, but I order Shiner Bock most of the time. Occasionally I'll go for Ziegenbock when I need to save some money and still want to drink beer, but those two are usually the same price at the gas station. $0.50 difference at the bar.

Ah yeah, having lived in Europe for so long I'd forgotten that you can buy beer pretty much everywhere in the US. (Not that you can't get it most everywhere in the UK, but it is state only in Sweden.)

Malt liquor is, in fact, a type of beer. Pilsener is also a type rather than brand—and not unique to, or even originating in, Germany.
