I'm hosting a single elimination CTF Tournament here in TR2N Origins. The big tourney will be held July 31, 5 pm EDT in the TR2N Origins Tourney servers. Winner will receive a $50 gift card, given to the team captain to decide how to disperse to the team or to keep for themselves. This tourney will be shaking things up and going old school to 5 per team.
The seeded tournament placement will be decided by a round robin set of qualifying tournaments to be held on two Saturdays June 19 or 26 (depending on a date confirmation) and July 10. Each team will play all of the other teams in the tourney once during the two qualifying days. The matches will be best of 3 to determine the win.
Sign ups run from now until June 19 at noon EDT. To sign up the team leader makes a post here stating that the team is participating this match. If you don't have a team, make a post in tourney discussion thread to let them know you are available.
The day of the tourney the teams need to check the bracket and be in their assigned server. If the tourney director comes in and your group isn't ready, then the other matches will be started and then the tourney director will come back to you and start your match.
6 slots per team 5 in play 1 sub/spectator. Mass suicides are illegal and are defined as an entire team all dying within the first 15 seconds of the round.

Matches will be played to 100 or 5 rounds whichever is reached first, instant death zone after 4 min, win_zone_expansion 100

Tourneys are team based, but not necessarily clan based. For the purpose of the tourney standings, your tourney team needs to remain the same for the duration of the Summer of 2010 season. If a team falls apart (more than 50% of team left) then the team forfeits.
Players are expected to act in with sportsmanship. Anyone being rude to other players, or the tourney directors they will be disqualified. Spectators need to talk in /team, if they refuse to follow this and disrupt the tourney they will be warned first and then kicked.

The idea of the team leader keeping the prize to themselves though is quite funny
I don't understand why some of you reacted so negatively on this announcement, especially after there were so many topics about cash prizes in armagetron tournaments. Now Tr2n finally puts it into action and you are going to refuse this chance. If the tournament's concept is successful, we can only learn from it.
