Death metal and smooth jazz , as of late all I've been listening to is The Faceless and Nat King Cole. I don't think music helps while tronning, though. I just do it because I feel more productive that way.

Well, I'm kind of a jazz n00b considering how I spend most of my time on metal. So I can't really recommend any contemporary jazz. If you're a jazz n00b like me, though, I recommend listening to some of the most influential/incredible people in jazz, like John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Nat King Cole, and Thelonious Monk. If you're really interested in the subject, you'll find more artists as you listen to it more, including the contemporary ones.
