I don't know why you would limit the amount of participants...

There is NO WAY that telling 40 out of 60 people they cannot compete will end well; think, Orion. Even if you mean nothing personal by it, shoes is gonna' go down.

Why not just let everyone who wants to sign up sign up, MAYBE randomly split it up into two (or three, depending on the numbers) groups, and them be responsible for 1v1ing everyone else in their group (within a reasonable amount of time). To help minimize the issues of two people never being able to find each other, maybe have 1v1power hours or something like that where players are encouraged to get on and 1v1 some opponents?

i prefer my idea. the people can try be in the best 20. they know can play or no.. they know the rules. If they like with sign up. and ok no limit of 60. everyone who want to sign up, can do it.
but admins will decide the best 20 anyway. I wanna make a tournament for experts. its my idea.

Yes, compguy, maybe I will try to get something going if I have some free time this summer. A 1v1 sumo league could be interesting, but would require a lot of work to try to maintain and blah blah blah...
