As I am changing where TheServerPharm is being hosted, I have a few extra. I will list them on the wiki, momentarily.

2 things:
  • #1: How were the brackets randomized? Just curious.
#2: How can you predict that Nubaholics will be in the finals if you don't even know who's on that team? (Or any of the other teams for that matter.) Unless, of course, you do know.

/me waits for one of the participants to talk about transparency and the fact the organizers clearly know the identities of some of the unknown aliases, further causing skepticism and doubt about how the brackets were formed. Also, lots of edits in this thread.

 sine.wav lets not go into unneccesary discussions.

..I will immediately contradict what I said above here ^ it is SO easy to figure out the identity of 90% on that teams-list. Furthermore, this is INW and Luck's tournament, it is their decision how they randomize the brackets, so either way- irrelevant. Doubt they didn't randomize it fairly though.

Lets stop that discussion right here.

Good luck @ the WST people.

Any tourney there will be doubt that the brackets were randomized and somehow the bracket "randomizer" didn't use a randomizer to randomly assign the teams to random spots on the bracket. It is pretty sad to what society has come down to today. Being so paranoid over someone's guess on who will be in the finals is a ridiculous comment to even think about speculation. Really?

I think that you are missing the point here. There is a process by which tourneys that are run from here are randomized. That process involves going to the IRC channel and using the bot. The thing is, this process is transparent, because it is logged. Nobody is accusing you of any nefarious behavior here. But, the reason for a transparent process that is logged, is so that you can remain above reproach. Of course, if you are running this tournament, it is entirely up to you as to what methods and procedures you will use. Please understand, when you don't use the randomizer that is standard, and transparent, and you predict who will be in the finals of the competition, it gives the appearance of malfeasance, even if there is none. I agree with Liz, that it is your choice. I am just pointing out the reasons that people may question you.

It's pretty obvious that INW just wanted to start friendly/competitive discussion about who is gonna win this thing.

Whoever wins will have beaten all the other teams* anyway, just like in the ladle. I see nothing wrong with these brackets, seems like both sides are pretty strong. Gonna be a good final.

*Directly or indirectly.

Luck randomized the brackets however when I was at a baseball game...I have nothing to do with them...maybe we can use the IRC next time...and yes; I was trying to start a friendly conversation on others opinions on who u think will make it to the finals or win...guess that idea was dragged in the recycle bin.

No worries. This certainly won't be the last WST!

Even if the brackets were not randomized fairly, won't Durka's team win anyways?

I actually *paid him not to participate, right Dorka?!

*Not mentioning which method of payment I used.

Oh, and that the ladle brackets get randomized in IRC doesnt mean every tourneys brackets have to be that way.

Lots teams signed up tho, yay.

Yeah I am quite excited for the amount of teams that have entered, hopefully most of them show up.

Even with as many creative team names as they have, the brackets seem incomplete with out "Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society".

I put up enough servers that the first round can be all 18 teams participating. You guys will need to change the brackets to reflect the 9 servers.

@liz, agreed, not all tourneys need to use the ladle system. I was just saying that doing so will keep people from ever being able to accuse anybody of any unfairness. Personally, looking at the brackets, I do not see any sort of apparent rigging to help any team. I think that others out there just do not really trust anything but the "Ladle way" of doing things. I am just glad to see this tourney happening, and hope it continues!
