Pickup game recording.

Post by gawdzilla »

I recorded a pickup match that was played yesterday, 4v4 fort. If you want to play pickup, you can join #armagetron.pickup @ irc and !add up.

Press HD. I used fraps this time which has better quality than what I used for the ladle, only problem is theres this black box that appears around it and I don't know how to fix this, anyone? I think Pr3 uses fraps so, hope he sees this somehow and can explain how to get rid of that.

Anyways, enjoy.

Certainly improved! You manage to capture nearly all collapsing zones and center attacks. 4/5 from Titan00b.

Why did you turn of the lagometer though?

I got annoyed by the boxes and thought it'd look better for visuals, no?

Looks very nice, but I must say that commentary adds much to the video, it's even better than music :).

This pictureboxing is very strange - do you use widescreen resolution in arma (1280x720, 1920x1080, etc.)? I guess you should run the uploaded file in any media player and see if there are any black bars around.

Yes the black boxes are in the media player as well, I do play in widescreen. Iunno, I'll just google it and I guess it isn't that much of a big deal.

gj hoe
I expected sound but I actually prefer watching it without, although can always mute if it does
Don't see those rubber metres often was cool watching them. They're clearly an advantage but would most likely just be distracting; for me anyway.
Nice zone monitoring hax too epsy edit: although actually im pretty sure 2020 had something similar a while ago

Would be better if kill output chat was on imo; not sure if you can just have that though.

Maybe. Enabling chat is just annoying though, so, maybe an alternative for that can be made.

Are these boxes only on top and bottom or around whole screen? If it's the first one, then it means at some point you "letterboxed" the video, if the second then I have no idea :P

Hmm... You should shoot them an email. I bet that aspect ratio isn't supported. Can you use your video editing software to zoom/re-size and re-render the file in 4:3? You shouldn't loose much quality, especially if your output size/compression is the same as the website it will be hosted on.

That would be really strange, as the video window has aspect ratio like 2,35:1, not 4:3.
I bet Liz messed too much with the file :P

The point was to think about the final presentation and work backwards. If you know it will be uploaded to a site that supports "this" aspect ratio and "that" compression codec, then you prepare the file accordingly. So, even though lizmatic makes a file that has a letterbox, there is no reason we need to see it too (not that it takes away from the enjoyment of her recordings).

The player is 16:9 (the black room at the sides is decoration). It's really the video itself that's boxed at exactly 3/4 size. I suspect it was exported to 4:3 at some point with letterbox, and then exported to 16:9 with pillarbox, the latter perhaps by the site. That, or it was 64:27 instead of 4:3, which I doubt. ;)
