Lag/distortion

Post by ppotter »

Since a couple of days ago, when playing (on random servers, different gametypes too) the game starts "distorting". The game starts stuttering and the trails go bendy.

The effect seems to recede every time you turn, but once it's gone, the lag-o-meters are huge, bigger than when I've had 700 ping, but ping is stable. Although the effect seems worse in servers where I have a higher ping.

The doesn't seem to be anything that triggers it, but I haven't downloaded a new client, or changed any settings etc for weeks.

Any suggestions?

Using 0.2.8.3.1 on Mac, 10.5.8 btw.

This happens to me also every now and then. Didn't make anything of it.

It also happens to me sometimes when my anti virus program is downloading updates or my wifi connection loses some packets. It always gets laggy for me when another program in the background pops up (my antivir always shows me an advertisement "notifier"). For me its gone the next round then.

The computers perfectly adequate to run arma, normally get 150-200 fps, and it happens more often than that, probbaly every 5 minutes or so.
