Re: Button Pressing
I love the fairy, Phytotron (poor little thing). Is it original artwork made by you?

Re: Button Pressing
Nope. I was kinda hoping there was an off-chance someone might recongise its origin (and the story that I pilfered).
(Incidentally, the photo isn't mine, either; swiped that from some blog doing a Google image search. I do own the book, though.)

Hey, thx bib Actually, I'm not _that_ much into fairies and myths, but when I was young I read this book again and again: http://www.amazon.com/Gnomes-Wil-Huygen ... pd_sim_b_6. It's about gnomes, their real life, social behaviour and such 0o. Funny and adorably illustrated.
Strangely enough that pressed fairy gave me a good laugh and I'd willingly hang it up on the living room wall were I to get an original (artwork that is, not an original pressed fairy... well, at least it's most unlikely to get one, right?).
To get back on topic:
My right hand steers, while the left glances and brakes. So I mostly hit the related keys at once when double-binding. To go left-left or right-right when not in a hurry and not with the intention to actually 180, I use the same keys (that is the keys I bound to double-bind into a directon) but press them one after the other with a short delay.

Re: Button Pressing
I am one of those insane people that uses a quad bind to be able to do quick, perfect "triple binds". Let me explain. On my left hand a,s,d turn left and f turns right. On my right hand ;,l,k turn right and j turns left. I use the g key to glance left, the h key to glance right and the b key to back glance. In practice I do more single binds with the d and k key than anything, and a lot of double binds with my middle and ring fingers, leaving my index fingers for glancing. However, with this key configuration i can work triple binds by just rolling my hands from pinky to index finger very quickly. This is particularily useful in ctf, ctfs, fortress, sumo, and even occaisionally in LMS servers like shrunkland.
I also mash the 2 fingers or three fingers to do quick turns in 6 and 8 axes maps and chico physics in Wild Fortress and Fortress Shootout servers.
However fancy that may sound, I have, in the last 2 1/2 years wore out 2 keyboard's d and k keys, because I do a LOT of single binding!

Wow Compguy, your key setup is just crazy lol. I use to think in the Hr days, to be good you have to have three keys set for left and right but later found out i was wrong and two keys for each is enough.
Interesting setup saragei. Maybe i should give this one handed steering and other glancing setup a shot, it sounds pretty fun.

Re: Button Pressing
In case any folks don't quite fully realise what "that sort of thing" is, it's not just some silly children's fantasy book (although is great for children). It's a collaboration between Brian Froud, whom some may know from his work on the films Dark Crystal and Labyrinth, and Terry Jones of Monty Python fame. It is a take-off on the Cottingley fairies hoax:fingerbib wrote:Sara: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lady-Cottington ... 1857933362

That particular hoax is one with which most every bona fide Skeptic is familiar, and the Pressed Fairy Book (actually, there's a whole series) is an enjoyable compliment to that (it's on one Amazon member's "Skeptic's Bookshelf" list)—and is a nice way to introduce youngsters to concepts of philosophical skepticism, too.
Saragei, the edition I have came with loose cut-outs of pressed fairies, which you could certainly place on a wall. (Or, buy a second copy and remove the pages.)

When playing arma (rarely these days I know) . I have my index finger on left and my ring finger on the right arrow. The left hand is used to hold the beer or wine.
I (s)mash my head against the keyboard to octobind
