Re: Illegal Exit 01
We can do some shifting around before game time if we need too (we probably don't). Everything is cool. I'm just happy there are this many people who want to play incam.

I'm fine with playing on free kill's team.

Re: Illegal Exit 01
a success on the whole, in my opinion.
gameplay was at times pretty campy, but there was obviously a great deal of skill into both camping itself in incam, and securing a bigger box for yourself than the other guy.
It was lovely how there were no clans, tags or any of the accompanying drama

I actually remembered about it 50 minutes after the start time. Sorry if my absence caused any problems.

Don't forget the cool team colors!Concord wrote:It was lovely how there were no clans, tags or any of the accompanying drama
Thanks to all who played; I'm very happy this thing went off...
There are some obvious problems with the game when it becomes a tournament. Players tend to take fewer risks, and this leads to more camping. You see this in many games in Arma during a tournament.
My first inclination is to make finite trails, but that doesn't necessarily stop camping, or cause players to take risks. But still, having something like 1200 meter trails can still "feel" the same, can't it?
The score needs to be adjusted. A point for a kill and one for surviving makes a good single-player game, but again, promotes camping in a tournament. Maybe only kill points? That still doesn't stop someone from camping to avoid giving up a point.
Most of the time players are forced to camp because someone hugged the rim tightly and sealed themselves off. You see this in all death-match servers. I'm always tempted to reduce the rubber, but maybe raising it will give people confidence to out-dig someone? (I can't believe I considered "raising" rubber

One of the earliest versions of TRON Experience had a DZ that came in after last_death (I think it was 20 seconds). I'm not opposed to this. Part of me imagines the evil Sark sending in recognizers to derezz players that failed to entertain him.
Whatever it is, I think I'd like to have "regular" settings (the current ones) and "tournament" settings. I generally don't like that sort of thing, but the current game is really fun for me in single-player mode. And since I pay for it, and I play there most, well... you get the idea.

Phytotron: let's get some feedback from you too.

Actually, I seriously think your team would have won the tournament had you shown up. So yeah, a little problem. Don't worry though!Desolate wrote:I actually remembered about it 50 minutes after the start time. Sorry if my absence caused any problems.
Re: Illegal Exit 01
short, exciting matches. [apology]that's the way all tourneys should be[/apology]

Re: Illegal Exit 01
scoring is tricky, let's use a death zone.
Re: Illegal Exit 01
I really think we should try finite trails first. And change the scoring. DZ is a last resort for me, but I'm still open to it. Let's keep all this in mind and play around with the settings in a few weeks (assuming I'll be more focused on it then).Concord wrote:scoring is tricky, let's use a death zone.
Re: Illegal Exit 01
Thanks for a good tourney, and I (Piano) would like to point out that I'm sorry my teammates weren't on time, hope you guys still had fun
I did.. especially in the match against LFO; wasn't any camping there as far as I can remember. As soon as 2 enemies were separated, they tried to meet up and fight (atleast I did =P).
Sidenote: thx voodoo for stepping in as percussionist since the drummer didn't show up and the drum machine wasn't doing its job. (LOL'd when you renamed to bongo).
Oh yeah. Finite tails would be great imo. Other than that, great tourney.!

i'm now trying to get better at incam, same for fingerbib
(that's why you'll see us dying more often in fortress and ctf...at the moment I defend and attack like a drunktard, but I hope it's as easy as playing with any other camera soon)
and there's still the minimap x)

Do like 2020 used to and place an "incam" tag before your name. Example: ]i[ WordWord wrote:that's why you'll see us dying more often in fortress...
And that reminds me about incam fort tourneys...maybe this summer.
