Okay so in another topic we've been talking about how clans should work together to accomplish tasks and what-not like consolidate servers.
Well I think for the best of armagetron, servers should work together to ban the player we know as dev/null/swiss/hackz/1337/etc.
He/she was on today impersonating the player ct|kyle, probably the friendliest player in arma, and an admin from ct; swiss was also later impersonating mkay and hedera; i only cought screenshots of a portion of the latter incident:

No, I'm not implying that some central authority forcibly remove you. I'm suggesting that you and others take it upon yourselves to keep this kind of crap off of these forums.

how is it "crap" when this person has been causing trouble on virtually every server for as long as I've been playing tron (4+ years) and I, along with the other people he/she/it has been causing trouble for, have seen practically 0 effort to do something about her/him/it?

This is not a place to bring complaints. If you have a problem with a player take it up with them and/or sever admins. Case closed.

In a friendlier tone, we all already know that /dev/null/swiss is an idiot. You should just consider you might be talking to fakers and not trust people because they wear a nickname, or you could play on less permissive servers.

PS: You're probably being attacked because this isn't the first time you bring up such an issue :) Really, just follow the former advice. You're in an internet community and there will always be trouble-makers.

yes, i always authenticate, sometimes here but most of the time @ct/jedi, so if there is somone faking me and they are not authenticate within a round or two, then it's NOT me.

My apologies for putting this crap in the wrong, that was not my intention, and I promise I will not in the future. Phytotron, you need an attitude adjustment, but that's aside from the point.

But I must argue that I disagree. Maybe you have mistake this as some type of personal feud with swiss, which it is not. It's a feud between swiss and the tron community, that he is always impersonating other players; and when he is playing as himself, he is flaming other players and tking.
This is isn't an error of auth; the fortress servers that swiss usually causes troubles on usually have newer players not familiar with the voting system; so even if their is a vast majority who wish to kick this guy, they are not always quite sure how to approve the vote. If they are, he/she has dynamic IP, and can come back into the server over and over.

I agree that general juvenile complaints should not be posted here. But issuing a statement on a person who gets away with serious trouble making for over four years (including impersonating many of you who are posting on this, which he undoubtedly has) is not juvenile.

You can continue to flame me on this (or tank can lock it, that would be nice), but I won't be replying.

I know your done with this...but I would like to point this out. I can think of 10 other players that do this in non-fortress servers, 8 of which are probably unknown by the community here. Some do it more often and more annoying than swiss. There really is no way in Armagetron of controlling this, other than doing so on an ad hoc basis. There are many reasons for this. You cannot globally ban a player, period.

Admins can reserve screen names for only certain authenticated users. All it does is add a '2' (e.g., Louven2) to the name unless or until it's authenticated, but that's still identification. Again, take it up with the Owner/Admin of the server, not here.

I don't know what permanent config file it should go in, though.

It actually doesn't matter what config file that goes in. For the way that I have your server configured, it would probably be best to put it in authentication.cfg. That is how i do it in my other servers. I just started adding that to my ladle servers, for my screen name, and will probably do that for anybody that has admin or mod in my servers, to protect their screen names.
