Timer hickup error
I just dled the latest AA for windows and some servers will repeatedly give me this error:
"Warning in REAL sn_SendPlanned1() in src/network/nNetwork.cpp:2822 : Timer hickup!"
If anyone knows what this means/how to fix it i would be greatly pleased.

Which servers in particular, and when does the message appear? This message can mean a lot. It can really mean your clock hickuped. It can mean our client froze for a second or two doing stuff. It is just a warning and usually nothing to worry about.

Re: Timer hickup error
um so far it has happened in ww ctf, ww sumo, and swampland mud puddle and probably more but those are the only i have played.
the message appears all the time, it will just repeat over and over and fill up my whole screen.
is there any way for me to like turn off the error report?
i just noticed that when it happens the startup screen (the image with the 2 bikes) flashes up really quickly
^actually that just constantly happens; in the menus and in game

Umm. That probably means something is seriously wrong with your clock. Can you send a debug recording, please?

Re: Timer hickup error
ok now im probably just retarded but i dont understand the instructions on the wiki...
the wiki says
the wiki says
by shell does it mean command prompt? because i entered it exactly like that into the command prompt and it told me that it didnt recognize command "armagetronad"Use your shell to pass some command line arguments to armagetron:
To record: armagetronad --record filename
To playback: armagetronad --playback filename [--fast-forward SECONDS]
where filename is the name of the file to be recorded to / played back.

Re: Timer hickup error
ok well i restarted my computer again and this time the hickup error is fine and the startup screen doesnt flash anymore but i am getting crazy slides even though i have decent ping and 1000+ fps...
this happens on multiple servers and my internet isnt running slowly.
however, on startup it gave me an error, im restarting again to catch what it said.
my screen flashed black then off like 2 times then it said:
"video mode not supported"
in the middle with a little green red and blue bar below
this hasnt happened before

Re: Timer hickup error
You missed the special instructions on Windows. There's a "Armagetron Advanced Recorder" or somesuch start menu entry, it will create the recording file on your Desktop. The "Video mode not supported", if intermediate, is nothing to worry about; some combinations of monitors, graphics cards and video modes do that while the monitor is syncing to the new frequencies from the card. The slides are likely the same problem as the hiccups: something is bugged about your system timer.

Re: Timer hickup error
That would be normal. Slides can't affect local games.
Re: Timer hickup error
Ah. You're still using 0.2.8.2.1 or earlier (not your fault, the website claimed it was the most current version until very recently). You should upgrade to 0.2.8.3.1. There is a problem with the timer routines as they were used in 0.2.8.2.1 with certain mainboards and configurations (dual core AMD processors, mostly). 0.2.8.3.1 reverts to a less accurate, but more reliable timer if it finds the high accuracy one is broken.
