Tron closes every 10 minutes

Post by Thilo »

Windows 7
Biostar Mobo
Intel Quad core
8GB RAM
ATi 3600 PCI-E (Two monitors)
ATi 4550 PCI (Two monitors)

It will play normal for about ten minutes. Then, once it's been about ten minutes, at the start of the next round, all the bikes will have white caps on them. Like snow fell on the tops.
Then after 3 or 4 seconds, the game crashes. It won't crash if left on the menu screen for ten minutes. Only when the round starts and the top of the bikes turn white.

I've tried:
- Disabling video cards
- Turning resolutions down
- Messing with all the graphics settings for Arma and the video card(s)
- Some other stuff

Ideas? Solutions? Memories? Hostile Animals?

What version of arma is this? If it's 0.2.8.3 (or one of the RCs), you can try disabling display lists, that one may still be a bit buggy.

I have also seen that "snow effect" once.
But my client didn't crash. :)
I'm using 0.3_alpha8870 :wink:

EDIT: nvm , it does definitly crash xD

I have my display list set to "create and execute"
when I disabled it , my FPS went to 60 and so enabled it again , since a higher FPS is more important for me :)

@Z-man

0.2.8.2. But I've tried a bunch of versions and it crashes in all of them, including Tr2n. I also made sure lists was turned off.

@AI

Weird. Let me know if it happens again and you figure something out. This crashing is getting obnoxious. If I have to see "wb" one more time, I'm going to slaughter myself.

Can you try and get a closer look on the cycles? From the side, if possible? And maybe, just in case this isn't a driver problem, but something with some odd settings, get a debug recording?

(I'm not really full of hope we can help here, mind. You have an odd mix of GPUs there, and all signs point towards a driver problem we won't be able to work around.)

Today I was trying to record the snow effect , but my client crashed before I saw it.
But I got the following error message:
http://bthost.de/bthost/files/17.02.201 ... hot_12.png

Maybe the snow and the this error message are related?

Did you get the error on playback only? It looks like a playback desync.

I think only at playback , but I'm not 100% sure since my client crashed right after I thought to see that error >_<

Would it be helpful if I upload the recording?

Here it is 8)

@shoe:
Are you playing tron with 2 monitors?
Maybe you can try to disable one video-card while playing tron.
I think the drivers block themselves.

EDIT: Maybe you should try this: http://ati.amd.com/products/hydravision/faq.html
It might fix the (driver) issues
