Do you have to sign up solo, as a team or not at all?

If it's solo, is it a pickup match?

Altough I wan't to compete, it's a rather late announcement. However, kudos for making it a saturday competition, as it won't interfere with the sunday competitions held on this client :D

I would prefer to see people use the TR2NOrigins client. However, the devs have put together this Arma client, which I have tested. It works. Many people have stated that they have no desire to try a new looking client, but would like to access our servers from an Armagetron client.

Are there any disadvantages using the arma client to play tr2n? (And is the rubber meter "normal" again :D? (the reversed rubber meter is a pain in the ass))

I'd say that if you up the network bandwidth settings, the AA client should give the same performance as T2O. With the rubber meter working the way you're used to (The wrong way round. I guess that's something we should add as an option.) The code is still identical enough that the difference in version compatibility philosophy between the two projects can't have any effect.

For the ones having no clue what Z-man is talking about (like me), this is how to up the settings (if I'm correct):

Start armagetron
Go to game -> network game -> network setup -> put the input and output rate to the max. (20)

If I missed anything, tell me and I will edit the post.

That's better. We renamed the menu items for 0.2.8.3. Otherwise, entirely correct.

If I up those settings to 20 in my normal client, will I have less lag? :) or is there no use for that?
(Slightly irrelevant to the tr2norigins stuff, sorry!)

If your incoming pipe and the server's outgoing pipe and everything in between supports it and the server admin upped the maximal output rate, then yes. If the server admin didn't change the output rate, nothing happens. If the pipes don't support it (unlikely these days), you may end up with more lag.
