Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
Will we eventually get the post count stuff back, or maybe something similar? I mean, this place is almost becoming normal. I don't mean to breathe down your neck, but just... the thought of it.

Don't know if it was mentioned here yet or not, but the server's category is highlighted if someone posts in the server admins section even for those without access to it.

Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
I noticed that as well, but I figured it has probably been this way all along. I think I even recall seeing this in the past. This would just be like the first time in decades someone posted in there. But yeah, still odd. I'd vote for a fix if it's an easy one.

Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
I noticed some time ago that Opera* wouldn't display italic text on posts/signatures (like my own), and today I thought I'd try and see why.
Seems like on the stylesheet the first preferred font is Lucida Grande, which I think mainly exists on OS X.
The problem is that this font doesn't have italic, just bold, so my question is: is there a good reason it's in first? I don't know much about this subject...
* - seems like other browsers use an alternative font, for example. But I doubt most non-OS X people even have Lucida Grande.

Actually, I think Microsoft made the Lucida font family.madmax wrote:I doubt most non-OS X people even have Lucida Grande.

If Charles Bigelow and Kris Holmes work for MS then I guess so.pie goes moo wrote:Actually, I think Microsoft made the Lucida font family.madmax wrote:I doubt most non-OS X people even have Lucida Grande.
What I read is that Lucida Grande doesn't come as standard in Windows, so the ones who actually have it are left without all the italic prettiness.

Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
I have to say though, Lucida Grande looks kinda nice here. Safari (on Mac at least) seems to just turn it oblique when you request italic.

Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
we should finish this off, I think. I've been using ArmaUnified for the wiki and forum since it was available, and it's quite nice. (Work's well with the mac beta of Google Chrome, anyway, not a surprise since Chrome uses WebKit)

Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
Good idea Concord, I could spent some time on it beginning next week. Would be nice if we had a list of things that need working on.. I'll start:
Forums:
Also we should start working on the main site as well. Anyone seen and have any comments on my frontpage mockup which I did a while ago?
http://handseverywhere.net/random/frontpage.html
Forums:
- Profile pages need fixing
- Little last-post image next to the last posters name
- Little unread-post image which brings you to the last unread post
- Differentiate between read/unread topics/forums
- Differentiate between read/unread posts
- Ability to change text size through the pagestyle settings in firefox(is this supported by other browsers?)? right now i have the option to pick A, A+ and A++ which is supposed to make the text larger.. maybe we could make it so the text goes smaller?
- Personally, I'd like to see the location, postcount and joined date (underneath the avatar) removed, and also put a height limit on the signature size to reduce scrolling
- Colors which indicate which parts of a page has been edited seems to be missing

Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
Isn't there an issue with the "spam notification" icon missing from this theme?
Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
I have time I can put towards this as well.
additions to the list:
Forums:
*fix the spacing of thread title, "Edit Post", "Subject:" and reply title.
*the page listing and search form on a thread are on top of each other, they should be beside each other.
*Advanced search link is floating to high
*fix the spacing at the bottom of a post form
Wiki:
*margins and padding could use a bit of fixing
*main site
your mock up looks good, we'll have to make the other pages
It looks fine in the mac beta of google chrome, by the way

Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
Regarding the icons showing if there is new posts, I'm in favor of getting rid of them. The "View new posts" is very useful, and some people can be bothered by the appearance of the red flags and feel compelled to get rid of all of them.
