The default sounds are pretty harsh. I've replaced them all with "softer" ones I've culled from other games. I wear headphones as there is stereo sound, which I find useful. Indication of speed dynamic is another benefit. If I/we have music going it's in the room (I don't play much music off the computer), and can hear it through the headphones.

I think most people play without sound. I can't. I get tons of information about my environment from audio cues. Like I said earlier, I kill a lot of people without seeing them because I can "hear" where they are outside my camera's view. It's especially helpful when defending in Fort/CTF if an explosion happens off-screen. (I've read that audio reaction times are generally faster, significantly, than visual ones; but I can't find a journal article to back this claim up.)

Also, I made some kick-ass replacement sounds. Grinding in Fort with a full team and my speakers turned up gives me a boner.

if i could chose i would go for hearing. Hearing is indeed somthing special, and i lissen to music alot. But still losing my sight would be terrible. If you cant see you cant function that well in the society. While without hearing you can. I'm not saying blind ppl cant function well, i'm just saying they lose an important thing.

I was like that but when I started to play w/o sound, I started glancing more to make up for it.

i would prefer not hearing (im freaking im bsing i use like 10 dif instruments) cuz if you cant see anything there isn't a reason to live. Can't see anything nice or you could even run into a bus thinking ur still in ur house, cant see ur friends fall in love with anyone cuz the person could fake its some hot girl and it could be some transexual.

I would pick sight. Sure, I won't see any beautiful women anymore, but the one that matters most is the one you're touching.

Of course, mentioning women, now maybe I'd rather pick hearing. The reason for that should be obvious....
