Re: Do you play rubber? redux
Phytotron all these answers are ridiculous .... Just to let you know...
The quote that started all this was actually from me but as for "Player B" i forgot who he was that answered my question
When i asked how does the rubber work here it was not a question of how to "dig" or "stab" but rather an easier way to play in the server.
The servers now have something called rubber_timebase or something like that were the longer you are on the wall the deeper you "dig". Some servers require you to stay a long time on the wall to get a decent "dig" while others just require your rubber to be high and you can just tap the wall and its a deep "dig".
when i said how does the rubber work here i just wanted to know when i plan to escape should i stay on the wall a long time (dig) or should i just (stab) the wall when my rubber is high.
**When you out grind your opponent by staying on the wall longer that's a DIG**
**When you out grind your opponent by touching the wall with higher rubber that is a stab**
All these other definitions that people gave you are not wrong but they are also not right. YOu dont need to 180 just to dig . I hope that clears it up for you

You can only rip a server if you set BUG_WALL_RIP 1, and get the settings right.
Eventually Zurd and I are going to put up a server with that setup!

So when I outgrind someone with out using as much rubber as them and staying on the wall for not as long, what is that called?teen wrote:

Your definitions are incorrect.

Re: Do you play rubber? redux
Ok a stab is just using as much rubber as you want on a wall without turning until you decide to....
A dig is when you "stab" but also go back and forth between left and right turn keys while staying on the wall which makes you use less rubber but gives you a deeper dig.

Your definitions are incorrect.
... your very illogical... if you realize what that says it means you cannot outgrind them...

Re: Do you play rubber? redux
Not really. Because it all depends on how someone digs. If they do like a basic stab with a few turns thrown in then it will be deeper than a regular stab at the same amount of rubber and time but if the 2nd person were to do a super dig which is where you have multiple turn keys (The dig i am doing in the video i posted) it allows you to dig harder and deeper faster than someone not doing a super dig.teen wrote:

The nicest people on tron feel no need to be logical 100% of the time; that would just be illogical.
@Meh: your video definitions are exactly I had in mind. I just usually picture a stab with the person doing a 180 instead of just going along the wall, but it doesn't really matter...

I would like to play you guys in hr rather than just tryin to explain here...

Re: Do you play rubber? redux
I know that not all servers deal with rubber the same way. You just failed to define a stab and a dig, its ok, nobody cares. If you see me playing and want to go to HR, come into the server and tell me.teen wrote:you guys are crazy... Not all servers are the same with rubber and i dont mean how much rubber...

@Compguy: I think a guide for HR is not needed, maybe just a terminology guide, but a guide on how to play will not be very effective.

Have a chat with your teenage son/daughter or your neighbour's if you don't have kids. It's the same in real life, every new generation will tweak spoken language to suit their need for uniqueness and the possibility to voice feelings the older generation might not have felt equally. I for myself sometimes have a hard time determining wether a new construction of words/phrases is worth some respect or just a good laugh.Phytotron wrote:(...) I've been having this sort of discussion with other 'older' players as well, all of us wonder, "what the hell is with all these new words? what are they all supposed to mean? what's the point? it means what? really? isn't that just such-and-such? that's dumb."
