Macros
Macros
2020 and I had a conversation about macros some weeks ago, about the possibility to cheat in armagetron.
If you don't know what a macro is and what it can do to the game, check this link out:

Re: Macros
If you search through the forums here, you will find examples of people having used macros and multiple keyboards to cheat. Of course, it doesn't really help them against really skilled players! I am too lazy to search, but remember reading through the old posts.
Armagetron: It's a video game that people should just play and enjoy

Re: Macros
What's the aim of this topic, word?
Re: Macros
I think there isn't a way to detect/block people who use macros (and I don't know if it's possible to do anything against that).
Just wanted to say that this works very effective for some players...
but yes, it's no real problem because nobody uses macros. i just thought some of you would like to know why the def of a certain player in ctf looks so invincible ^^ , or why there are players who have always the same square around you when they do a speedkill

Re: Macros
Oh great, now we can get noobs crying omg he's cheating blabla. Thanks Word.
Re: Macros
heh
it also offers chances for those who enjoyed the ArmagetronArt topic
and i know there's no aarec of a round which looks similar to the original lightcycle scene from Tron. Using a good macro, this should be easy.

Re: Macros
I don't consider macros cheating UNLESS the server states you may only singlebind.

Good thing nobody will read the guide you posted.Word wrote:but yes, it's no real problem because nobody uses macros.
Winner of the How Many Pages Before The Lock® competition and a grand total of 18,93 euros in Euromillions.
Re: Macros
You can't really do anything against macro usage on an open platform such as the ones we support. PunkBuster tries stuff like that, really hard, and fails really miserably. You can't control the client, point. The doublebind setting is only aiming to stop those who don't even try.
