well
i was thinking that we choose the teams based on the players who turn up...
the list on the signup page is just to give us a rough idea of the numbers...
i guess meeting up before hand allows for provisional teams to be chosen...

i just remember the mayhem communicating to random guys on the grid
it takes forever to assemble teams
so
if we are going to leave it to the day...

AHA!
if we get players to assemble at a warm-up server
the captains will be on irc
they can see who is there on the server search because they have ]i[ tags
make their choice about players and which on which server to play
then they gather together their team at the right server

how does that sound?

Well i put up a server called InCam Fortress Tourney (Ct's [USA])
it is the ladle 24 settings
with only incam allowed
[SP_]TEAM_MAX_PLAYERS 8


it's an updated 0.3 binary with the fortress AI and my current CT ladderlog stuff (more or less so i can see what i have done with it so far)

anyway I'll probably put up a Euro one today/tomorrow (depending on timezone)

Sweet. Add it to the servers list I guess, even though we'll probably only need one.

And since 2020 and I were the first to sign up, maybe we should just be the captains. Go ahead man, you can have first pick. ;)

I imagine once is gets started, people will drift in. Maybe we should allow a huge number of players per team, like DS MegaFort?

This should be a blast. :)

if new players come into the server
i think the teams should be locked at a certain point
a proper game is conducted
and visiting players are advised to go to the other server to warm up
and if they get enough players
they will play the winners of the current game

we can have a game every hour
choosing teammates etc from those who are wearing ]i[ tags

Oh man...
I just got beaten by a bot. It's really smart and knows how to conquer zone too.
I wonder if it would be possible to set up a bot defender :) and play incam match humans vs computers.
...

There's not much interest so far and it would be great if we had at least 12 players, so there'd be have semis and finals. I'll try to play there as much as possible next few days, so hopefully someone will join and get addicted to it ;)

As I recall, setting up a bot defender would be way beyond what z-man has coded. However, kyle could setup a match where the bots attack and you defend. Of course, since the bots don't know how to defend a zone, you would have to just ignore their zone to make it fun. I am planning on setting up a server for Ww and other teams to practice a given set defense against the bots. I will prolly make a custom map with the bot's zone having a dz inside so it is virtually unconquerable.

i'v actually just made (before we had some fun match in the server) a little hack for settings to change defenders and attackers. I was going to script up something for it to be back and forth :), I'll post it once it is working.

:) How about a version of Fortress Onslaught with humans vs AI? (wrong thread I know...)

Anyway, let's make sure we disable cockpit maps and other 0.3 goodies that might create and advantage over 0.2 users. This is gonna be hella-fun.

voice does compensate for not having visual...
we should recommend mumble or even skype for players

ok if you are alone it should now go back and forth between defending and attacking and give you a little message "You Attack" or "You Defend" this is only on the USA incam fortress tourneyment server.

if there are more than one people playing it should not do this (maybe the first time after you join to make 2 playing)
