what is ping? how does it work? how can i make it lower or higher? if you could answer any and/ or all of these questions would really help.

Ping is the ammount of time, in milliseconds, that it takes for information to travel from you to another computer, and back. You can improve your ping only a few ways. Buying better internet access can sometimes improve your ping. Using a wired connection instead of a wireless connection will improve your ping. If you have more than one router in your house, making sure you are connected to the router that your DSL or Cable modem will improve your ping. Other than those things, the only other thing that you control, is what server you are using. Servers that are physically located closer to you will have a lower ping. For instance, I normally ping between 47 and 55 ms to servers located in NY. But, I ping 150-167 ms to servers located in Germany.
