Pretty neat so far. I'm sure we'll uncover some problems in use, but I can't see any right now.

Re: A Change in Strategy // Fortress Premier League
I love the site, concs. I am definately going to use such a site to run future TheServerPharm tourneys and the League that I am planning. Also, I like the rules and structure you have chosen, it serves as a good example that I will draw from for the Multi-Mode league that I am planning.

Re: A Change in Strategy // Fortress Premier League
The site looks great
.
stats like those: http://playfortress.wordpress.com/2008/ ... -ladle-17/ would be great, we could choose MVP at the end of each stage, etc.

Re: A Change in Strategy // Fortress Premier League
It's just a matter of setting limits on colors, letssay r, g and b can't be lower than 66 and higher than bb. No matter if it'd be pink or yellow, the tone should be ok.epsy wrote:I really like this idea of each team having customized skin/branding, but not before one can choose on it's own to display them the way he wants.
One more thing are recordings. It'd be great if all matches would be recorded, so I hope dates and times will be announced at least 1 day before the event.

he's got the patch to extract this info from a game...
hold the line
Re: A Change in Strategy // Fortress Premier League
There's always Eddie's Armathenticating Fortress style stats.
I've removed all time restrictions, it's now showing all data collected during the time the server was up.
Have a play around. It keeps most data.
eg. Click a player name, it will show you their full breakdown
From here click on "Core Dumps" to show a list of everyone they have dumped and how many times
within that list of dumped players, click on their name to show a "gridbuddies" box showing all interaction between those players.
Click on Total Matches to show all matches played by that player.
within this list click on a match number to display the final results for that match.
There was even a small addon for using with irc. Try the urls:
http://plantpeanuts.co.uk/ladder/irc.php?player=ed
http://plantpeanuts.co.uk/ladder/irc.ph ... uddy2=Fofo
http://plantpeanuts.co.uk/ladder/irc.php?top10
Looking at it now, I can see plenty of room for improvement, especially for the environment being discussed here.
the usernames could have the team appended.
eg: ed/ct, durka/txats, hoop/arrow, etc.
a better way of displaying all match results would be needed. Especially with team names.
Some problems I forsee
The script needs sty+ct branch as there were a few things added to the source to make this ladder possible.
There would really have to be a central database to store all the data.
Ways to populate a central database...
The servers could run through the script, which makes running the server that little bit more complicated.
Or all logs could be cut manually and fed into the script after the match is complete, a bit of hassle for one poor guy (/me runs and hides), but may be the only practical way to go.
Anyhow, if anyone wants my code and some help, it's all yours.

Re: A Change in Strategy // Fortress Premier League
I don't imagine us needing more than 2-4 servers, so perhaps its feasible to have each server run the script?

Re: A Change in Strategy // Fortress Premier League
For the record, I am following this topic very closely. I would like to donate a NY based server for the Fortress Premier League. Also, I am setting up another league (non-fortress mostly) and would like to implement ed's script! I use sty+ct for most of my servers, so that wouldn't be a problem for me.

Re: A Change in Strategy // Fortress Premier League
I would, but I am way to busy with Arma already. Right now, I am running a tourney and planning the next 2, still working on finalizing settings for 3 servers, and Fortress Division Leader of the Wild West Clan. I have completely set aside any PHP coding for now, at least until I have gotten the 3 tourneys that I want to run going.

Re: A Change in Strategy // Fortress Premier League
To run the script on each server there would be a lot of rewriting needed to the script to make it tight. I don't have a lot of time at the mo unfortunately, this is not an option for me.
If each server clears their ladderlog.txt close to before each match and sends that to me after each match I can cut the match data from the log and load it into a central mysql database.
This won't take a great deal of time on my part to load each one in. I see a bit of inital work, but easy from then on.
I will then redo the php ladderpage and send that to you for display on the main league website - your web server will connect to my database for all the stats, etc.
Things needed to make this work...
All servers will have to run a fairly recent version of sty+ct
Everybody playing will need to authenticate. This will ensure that all names remain the same thoughout the tournament.
ie. ct-eddie and ctxeddie would create 2 seperate ladder entries, but ed@forums will always create only 1 whatever grid name I am going by.
It also means I can create another table of players and their teams, for team based stats which could prove interesting.

Re: A Change in Strategy // Fortress Premier League
Why not a competition like Uefa Champions league, with 8 groups, each group has 4 player. Everyone plays against everyone. And the rest is eighthfinal, Quarterfinal, Half final and Final. The game mode will be sumo.

Re: A Change in Strategy // Fortress Premier League
Sure, go ahead. You only need 32 players (or teams if it'd be team sumo) which is not much really. But this is the worst topic to propose such tourney. We're talking Fortress League heretheroze wrote:Why not a competition like Uefa Champions league, with 8 groups, each group has 4 player. Everyone plays against everyone.
