I thought of a new form of play for this game, but I couldn't even begin to program it and have no idea if anybody else would like the idea. I was thinking of game modes and how they resemble different game genres. Then I thought of the survival genre of gaming. Then, this idea hit me!
All players are in normal room/space, whatever you want to call it. Alternatively, we could make maps with walls to avoid or inside a maze. They do not leave a trail (already going against basic gameplay fabric.) There are DZs that fly around the room randomly , getting faster or more numerous as time passes (whatever would be easier to program) and you have to dodge them. Whoever is the last surviving wins the game. First to hit five wins takes the match.
Basically, is that possible to design? And, if that is the case, does anyone even like the idea?

Ok, but why did I add this signature? I was like 15 and thought I was smart? What a brat.

Yes. This has been brought up a few times. It kind of goes along with the idea of Armagetron Levels/Storyline/Single-Player-Mode. This usually leads to the discussion of a scripting language for Arma so more people can develop these types of things. It's a good idea, but still a bit out of reach at this time.
Here is a recent discussion about it: http://forums3.armagetronad.net/viewtop ... 47#p198747

Ok, thank you for the link and info, Sine.
I had not thought of it as a single player mode type, but you would not be directly engaging anyone else so it would fit. If somebody could get it to work, there could be one or maybe two servers of it. Biggest problem would be getting DZs to move around randomly, or creating hundreds of versions of same map to make it look that way...*brain is fried*

Did you ever play Chico's Ballpit Survival?
Basically there are 2 seperate circular arena's on the grid, 1 for each team.
In each arena moving green zones are spawned. if you enter a green zone you will get 2 points and spawn your team another 2 green zones and in your opponents arena you will spawn 2 death zones. Of course your enemies are doing the same.
Very soon the arenas become full of bouncing green and red zones. Avoid the red, enter the green.
It was a lot of fun, for a time, but fighting the lag with so many zones soon became the main objective.
I also made a more standard arena much like you mentioned. It was a near clone of Yellow Submarine but with bouncing death zones randomly spawned during play. It was called "Last Man Standing starring Bruce Willis" or something equally rediculous, It had a fairly intricate ladder written for it too iirc, but it never took off. Maybe I should rethink some of the names I give my servers

Nevar. We need more servers with action stars in their name.ed wrote:Maybe I should rethink some of the names I give my servers

It was actually very fun. (wasn't it on your flower power server when there was one person?) I think the main problem with it though was that there was a limit to how well you could do. Once you reached it, there was no reason to play it anymore.ed wrote:It was called "Last Man Standing starring Bruce Willis" or something equally rediculous, It had a fairly intricate ladder written for it too iirc, but it never took off. Yeah, that was a single player four axes version of it to try to keep one occupied until others joined.owned wrote:wasn't it on your flower power server when there was one person?
I favoured the "watch how the zones move here" approach to single player timewasting.
