Maybe with a larger group, the number of people who might actually donate to a project financially would grow, which could actually increase Arma's bottom line - slightly (provided overhead doesn't change much). One can only hope, eh?

Would be a nice side-effect indeed. Who knows, one day people might be able to make a living from developing open source games?

I also signed up for the mailing list. What's being discussed there seems to be interesting. Maybe I'll even contribute to it sometime.
