Light Bikes

Post by HEXadecimal »

Hey do we know who created Light Bikes for the IPhone. It has a very GLtron like feel to it, so much so that i think it might even be a fork. anyway just curious.

p.s. how cool would an iphone port of arma be.

Hello,

I believe the player "voodoo" is creating a armagetron version for the iPhone.

Read about it here: http://vcl-clan.com/forum/index.php?s=& ... ost&p=4820

Out of curiosity, did you compile it from scrach or is it based off the mac version?

the iPhone doesn't run OSX, OSX is for intel-64 platforms, iPhone and most iPods are using an ARM processor. Have you seen fancy windows on an iPhone, windows, or even a list of opened screens?

Secondly, the GPU in the iPhone(or in pretty much any other phone) is not as powerful as a desktop graphics processor. It's drivers also only support OpenGL ES, which offer a different/smaller set of instructions compared to OpenGL. The main job is porting it to OpenGL ES, integrating into a cellphone, and fitting in the software distribution model for iPhones.

So my original theory, that the "OSX" on the I phone is hardly the same as the desktop version

I would assume this stuff is what it would be compiled from...

Well, at the core I think it's basically a stripped down normal OS X. The main differences would be in UI and hardware capabilities (mostly performance).
