Where's Monkey...

Post by Flex »

Where has Monkey gone? It's obvious that this whole drama started within these forums and ultimately was the cause of his departing. I don't know what happened or why he fully left. I don't want to read every post and every argument, because they're all the same. He says something and a bunch of trolls reply with whatever remark they can find. Sometimes if not most times the topic would be changed and turned into a flame thread. Good job!

I don't think what happened is/was a right or wrong case for him, he was a fool to get involved and should of ignored whatever hostility that was given to him, but he simply did not deserve it. He was a genuine guy and nobody has or had a right to push him away like this. I guess it finally got to him and he couldn't take it anymore. But is that even acceptable? Who has the right to end up causing someone to stop playing a game or leave this place? This is an amazing game and he actually called this a community. Some people in this game that have been playing far longer than he has didn't even value it more than he did. He was weird like that and he put effort into this and tried to help out however he could. No matter what Monkey did or say, his opinion was his own and nothing different from anyone else's here.

I feel sad and quite annoyed at the fact that he left. I don't believe this was a case of a personal choice, but rather a choice to quit from being tormented. I'm posting this because Puuquie's thread regarding "Something is going bad in armagetron" has a sort of valid point. Being silenced on a server to comparing someone leaving over being persecuted is a major difference. Is everyone fine with what has happened? Is this what this community allows and lets happen? For such a small place, it's such a disappointment for me that this happened.

I'm not posting to cause an argument or drama, this is purely to leave my thoughts for the record and let everyone see another side to the story. (If it's not already obvious.)

the Bible, John 8:7 (King James Version) wrote:So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

Well... Its always a shame to lose the more active players of the community(with few exceptions). The thing is people move on or lose interest over time, with anything in life its very easy to become jaded.

As for the drama most of us don't bother to read much of it, generally staying clear(afaik). There's no real point in taking sides over such silly things and offending one side or another.

There's my small/open minded response.

I think Monkey has the unfortunate combination of the following two traits:
- wanting to move things
- taking things too personal

In an internet community, that's obviously going to cause you problems. Dunno about the full drama either (I usually don't read clan forums), I mostly know him from his bug reports which, frankly, always came with exaggerated priority, which was annoying.

I think this is where everything took place. Monkey wasn't in a clan and I don't think it started on a clan forum. In fact, I guess it actually started on IRC and in-game then was carried on here.

Well, there was this sort of secret VIP thing he was managing. I guess he got a lot of heat there, and that carried on into one topic here.
