Post by K-Yo »

Matches will be played tonight.

Post here feedbacks.

It seems that matches are unbalanced, let's see if it ruins the fun for some.

Teams were balanced, no trouble there. I didn't like the fact that many players weren't on time and some didn't show up, if this happens every week then I'll get sick of it very quickly -- just saying.

yeah people should have to confirm that they are going to make it. In server 2 we where playing 5v6 for most of the matches, that's 5 people who didn't show.

As for the matches i think only one match on our server was lop sided, and i think we had 2 matches end at 98 - 100.

The teams need to be a bit more organized though, we ended up choosing captains and then just each chose a player.

Other than the people not showing and the start being a bit unorganized i had a good time, GJ

I really thought it went well in OM-1 (wasn't there arguing in OM-2?). The only problem I had was my connection, which was one of the worst I've ever played through. The sliding was unbelievable. It was excellent sweeping from Monkey and Black_Hat that saved the defense. Looking forward to the next event.

Edit: About the captains, maybe use a bot to randomly pick 2 captains by number, then trade off picking teammates. If there is an odd number, someone must volunteer to sit out, so we don't have a sad last pick who can't play. Or maybe uneven teams are ok?

Issues to be solved:

- People not showing up.
- Bad Organisation

Possible Solutions:

- Ask for a confirmation? / Penalty if not showing up (not possible to attend to the next one for e.g)
- Team Captains -> how chose them? let a bot decide / the first who register in the "captain" field for the match

Another Ideas:
Server admins were chosen this time by me, because 'I' gave the servers for the matches, but maybe we should have another way to chose admins? I'm not sure though, admins must be players who know well the commands.

I have no complaints other then the lack of players showing up. The matches were close, the teams were even. We did start 15 minutes or so late but it was ok.

we lost the first match 98 to 100 we won 2nd one pretty handily but then lost the 3rd 90 to 100 (we almost pulled a comeback when it was 56 to 96 no one died at all on our team 1 of the rounds it was amazing.

i like the idea but if the 2 captains that are picking aren't equally skilled and knowledgeable of players present then i don't think the teams will be even...

Just like admins are decided by the commitee perhaps captains should be too.
They will also pick captains that will show fo sho.

Maybe could we get one organiser per match.

this person would:
- decide who is admin on each server
- chose 2 team captains (and make sure they agree of course :P)

The organiser would just have to write his name on a spot "organiser -> xxxx" on the wiki
first to write is the guy, if he is not doing his job, another one gets in.

what about that?

I like it. :) Instead of "Admin" under "Details," it could say Organizer. Then, the organizer can chose who the captains and admins are at the time of the match, from the pool of players that actually showed up.

A link to the wiki, just for convenience...

Why not admin also be the organizer? Is there a need to have two different people???

And as discussed before in other threads perhaps this person should not play since while they are playing it is hard to administer properly.

hehe, someone wrote, time ago "in a perfect world there would be z-man as admin"
The fact is that admin's full attention is only needed at the beginning, then he'll just have to kick spamming spectators or to update the score, etc... so if he's not really interested watching the match he'll just get bored... if he's interested to the match, he'd probably prefer playing it :D

A nice way to solve that would be logging a list of things to a dedicated irc channel, so he'd be free to do his own stuff and he'd be warned by highlighted messages on the channel
The logged lines may be:
- a new player joins the server
- match winner declared
- a player said something with 'ADMIN', eg. "ADMIN restart the match please"
- ...

btw, last night match was fun, a little confused at the beginning though, but we had some very nice rounds!
I was not listed in the wiki, but when I entered (I was just curious) a team leader choosed me and I couldn't say no

There should be a penalty if you don't show up without notifying someone. If the same people continue to do this then ban them from playing in OM.

As long as admin can admin while playing its all good i guess. Its not as serious as tourny so.

Ban is kinda harsh but maybe other players can get priority if the slots become full or something....
