This is what I'm happy with (QWERTY):

Left: W,E,R
Right: U,I,O
Brake: T
AutoBrake: Y
Look Left: Q
Look Right: P
Look Back: Space

Chat: Enter
Fullscreen: Not assigned

The explanation is very simple. I have triple bound left and right so I can 180 comfortably while braking and looking :). Say I want to 180 left while looking left and braking I can do so comfortably using the Q, W, E and T or Y keys. It also helps reduce finger fatigue (using the same finger over and over is not too good for preventing carpal tunnel.)

It's IMO probably the best setup for maneuverability on many different servers and in many different matches. I can roll over WER followed by U,I or O for 180's on servers that don't allow DBing. Try it out, even if you're a seasoned vet.

I don't use macros. Not that there's something wrong with macros but I feel like you will become out of practice when using them. I don't want that.

Ok Hope my first post was informative and well received. I am totally hooked to this game! cuotg :D

Presumably autobrake is the toggle. We used to do the same thing by binding caps lock to brake.

*home row keys*

asdf= left jkl;=right
q= chat p=change view
t-view lft
y-view right

Space bar= thumbs
toggle brake= thumbs

works well with chatting, since my fingers do not leave the home row.

zxcv = left
m,./ = right
q = change view
w = chat
asd = glancing

question: how do you rebind keys (without the menu)? i'm looking at default.cfg, and I see score and screenshot, which are the binds i misplaced, but I don't know the codes for the right keys...

You can set them in the global keybinds menu under system settings.

I've bought a keyboard for an armagetron specific use, because I was afraid of destroying my laptop keyboard, a few weeks after I discovered this game.
sorry for the bad quality, I took the picture with the screen cam :/

i usually control single-right and left turns with my right hand (fingers 2 and 4), then use different combinations for double and triple binding.

the blue arrows under the first row are for glancing.

space for brake
left shift: scores
left ctrl: full screen
right shift: chat
0 num pad: spectator mode
"windows" key: console (I like this one specialy since I use debian and it's the only application for this key :))

my configuration evolves with time but I think this one is quite stable for me now :)
