- It doesn't take a rocket scientist to tell, just some forum experience.
- 99% of the time it really is spam.
- There was a profile link. I didn't check it but it would have been evidence.

Also, generic posts about how good the forums are without mentioning the game are a dead giveaway. I followed the www link in the profile, and it looked like it could pass as legit, didn't see the rest. Luckily, Tank caught the rest.
