Development just.... dead?
There hasn't been a new beta build on the forums in over 2 years.. I dunno, I quit playing a long time ago.. just didn't seem to get any updates at all anymore so it got slightly boring..
So, what's been happening, devs just got other things in life now? Cuz we were getting some pretty interesting breakthroughs with the client a while back.. then it just stopped completely.
Just curious.. there was some high expectations for what you guys had planned.. like all the concept stuff such as walls that broke, not that they would be an easy feature to implement or that it would be fast.. but that it might happen one day.. but development seems to be dead lately.
I check here every few months to see what's up, petty disappointed usually.

If i ever get around to it, i'll prolly make/release an exe or something every once in a while -> i think that would make you people happy...

There are two independent problems here:
1. Release mess: 0.2.8 was supposed to be our stable/compatible branch, and 0.3 our developmental branch; due to various issues with new stuff in 0.3, however, many people have implemented "smaller" improvements in 0.2.8, which will cause 0.2.8.3 to be potentially less stable and, if released today, breaking backward compatibility with older 0.2.8 releases. Thus, 0.3 has not too much new (though probably enough for 0.3.1 if anyone bothers to do it), and 0.2.8 has too much new without the compatibility it needs for a new release.
2. Devs have real life issues: while some folks like epsy, groundpig, and CT have recently made some great strives toward improvements, a lot of us older devs have a lot going on in the real world. Without going into personal details, at least two of us are involved with court proceedings.

I understand people get busy with real life, but it's been a very long time since I stopped playing (I just got into MMO's is all, nothing wrong with the game or anything) and I haven't seen any more progress on the 3.x line of development. I could care less about 2.8.x and such because I've had the 3.x build since mid 06 - early 07, and my last 3.x update was on Feb. 1st of 07. Can't go back to 2.8 once you've gotten used to the 3.x UI imoLuke-Jr wrote:There are two independent problems here:

So with people telling me about 2.8.x versions it's sort of null to me since i'm using 3.x. It just seemed like you guys were putting forth some good progress when I used to play and then it kind of just died down to a low whisper.

0.3.1 is not ready IMO
0.3.1 needs the working sound engine, so artists can have a packaged version to develop sounds.
I can't promise anything, but I would time that eEvents (on which the sound engine should be based on, and which is my job
) should be finished in feb 2009
Again, I can't promise anything.
