IM Support?
I wonder... could there be instant messaging support in the game, like with a chat command? a command like /msn <buddy name> <message>
or /aim, or even /irc <channel>?

Wouldn't that just bring more illiterate chat to the game?

This could be easily handled by script(s).
Solution 1.
Have a script capable of reading/writing to the server. Have it scan for commands /irc (everyone could see this) /pirc (only people in irc can see this). Hand over information to an irc bot have the irc bot hand any relevent bot commands to the script #armasrvr1 hello world(tell arma say irc fakename: hello world)
Solution 2.
When(if) ruby scripting in arma is complete, write a script to hand over information to your favorite im/irc client etc. you get the idea
I really dont see a point in this though, just run arma in window'd mode and have im/irc open next to it.
