Sorry if this sounds stupid..........
Is there a way to play a two player game, do you always have to have an AI in a game, I want to be able to just play against a friend...one on one.
How would I go about setting this up?
Newbie Here
Hello, and welcome to the Armagetron Ad forums. This is not a stupid question at all. You need to do two things:
1) Follow the menu path Game>Game Setup. The first option is "AI Players". Use the left/right arrow keys to reduce the number to zero.
2) From the main menu choose "Player Setup". Under "Viewports" choose horizontal of vertical split; which suits you. When you start a new game, you and your friend can both play!
Happy tronning.

Ah. My bad. I thought you wanted to play locally with a friend.
Yes, you're right on track. Read this post for more info:

Another way to connect is follow the menu path Game>Network Game>Internet Game then choose"Host Network Game", and a name for your server. This will add your machine to the server browser.
Here is a thread about port forwarding if you have a problem:

Let us know if you are successful. Good luck.

This is sort of related,
If I were to direct IP to a friend, does it have to go over the 'net or LAN or is it possible to just...connect the computer's RJ ports with a cable? Would this take extra software? Would I have to set up a P2P lan? Am I making things to complicated? My friend and I both have macbook pro's and want to game against each other.
A little bit more off-topic..
I tried creating an internet game for me & my friend, but my game didn't show up on the server list. Any reason?
Sorry, I guess I sort of hijacked the thread...

You just have to get them together in a network. Any LAN type network will do. Ad hoc WLan P2P networks should work. Connecting both to the same router should work. From there on, it's just a matter of one player hosting the game and the other entering the LAN browser.Froop wrote:If I were to direct IP to a friend, does it have to go over the 'net or LAN or is it possible to just...connect the computer's RJ ports with a cable? The FAQ covers this one. It talks about dedicated servers, but games hosted with the client work just the same.Froop wrote:I tried creating an internet game for me & my friend, but my game didn't show up on the server list. Any reason?
