AFL v2 (???)

Post by DDMJ »

Would anyone be interested for another AFL this fall?

I'm thinking it would be only 6 teams which would shorten the season to 5 weeks (round robin) with a 1 week break before the finals. Then, the top 2 teams would get a bye the first round of the playoffs that would be played over 3 weeks.

Then again, if we could get 8 teams that would be best since then, the top 2 teams can be awarded a bye for their efforts in the regular season as well as the bottom 2 teams being left out of the playoffs due to their shitty regular season.

Or we could do just 4 teams, but if that's the case, we might as well just do a Ladle or something.

Anyways, I'm hopefully shooting for 6 teams (maybe CT, X, DS, TR, and 2 other teams of "randoms" (madmax, Lacks, Maz, hoop, Monkey, etc.).

So, yea, just respond if you're interested.

Thanks,

Durka

I may be interested but I worry about our lame community like I told you the other day. I think it seems to be even harder to get people to turn up for matches than it used to be. If we do this then I think allowing considerably larger squads might be a good idea. Many clans would benefit from including non-clan members in their squads. Of course, a small squad of reliable players is better than a large squad of unreliable ones. I definitely think we need to avoid matches where less than a full team of players turns up, it's just not acceptable.

That is the worry. CT and X would be fine if allowed to bulk up their squads with a few non-clan members. TR is small and would certainly need to heavily bulk up their squad to get a full team each week. As for DS, good luck with that. I think you would need to combine DS and SP and then still bulk it up just to get half a team of players to show up. Finally, would we have enough random fort players left, after bulking up, to make two decent size squads (it's something we definitely need to check)?

In general, "Playoffs" in Europe and North America are very different. Maybe that is something we could discuss.

why don't we just reduce the max team members allowed to play size?

I remember FFF (fortress for four) was somewhat successful... wasn't it? Why wasn't there another one?

Four man teams would be a lot easier to get going. Could be pretty fun too

Totally agreed. I don't think we'll get more than 4 teams with enough reliable members.
