snapshots of the grid

Post by gene »

It would be neat if you could take a screen/snap shot of the grid and the walls on it, that way you can see what patterns are made by different players and what not.

How would something like this get a greenlight for development?

that'd be great... as for development... just need someone with the time/motivation/skill to do it to get a green light...

ishAdmin: I mean a clean direct overhead shot of them, kind of like a floor plan, only it's the paths taken by players in the games. zooming out and taking a screenshot isn't the same as it takes a fair among of camera adjustment to do it and even then the shot won't be clean enough. Also, such would detract from the "That was the most amazing move I ever did, I want a snapshot of the grid!" or "Whoa, I died and it was funny. I wanna see what happened in more detail."

Well, you could set up the custom camera to be waaay up there, and then switch to it quickly (by hitting c) and taking your pic.

I want an instant replace myself. It would be nice to see how I died sometimes. ;)

Ironically, s/replace/replay/ is probably what you meant.

I'd like to see, at the end of each round, 2 seconds for every player, how they died. At the end of the match, I want to see the match winner's points and possibly the top two (besides the match winner).

edited - terminated my regex (thanks gene)

yeah we've been dreaming about complete game/match replays here on the forum before... something like a dump from the server of all movements into a file one could download afterwards and run in the client (or on a webpage (maybe using the blender browser plugin), that would be cool eh?)

we just need a thousand code monkeys and plenty of bananas first :)
