MPEG models? Don't think so. On my Mac the .mod extension is associated with VLC, maybe that has to do with it. But as far as Armagetron is concerned .mod is its own text-based model format. The only known viewer is Armagetron.
But since it's a text format, you can look at the raw data easily in a text editor.

mod is also a music format, so vlc probably knows about it as a music format.

Wow. It really does think they're mpeg. That's odd.
Mpeg is a video format, for regular movies where you flicker a bunch of still pictures to give the illusion of motion. Models are a different beast entirely. VLC is good for you to download in general, it's a great program, but it will probably have a nervous breakdown if you feed it the models we've got.
There's some documentation on the wiki, in the What Went Wrong In Armagetron article (no link handy, sorry), and I think that's all the documentation that exists for them.

Re: MPEG viewer
To get any sense out of that file open it in Notepad or Wordpad or you're preferred text editor/viewer. It's actually not a true ".mod" format and it's not an MPEG file as PowerDVD assumes it is. ".mod" file is usually assosiated with a music format that's why PowerDVD and WMP assumes it is.Crazy wrote:im looking at models of these thing i have on my comp and i came across models, these are MPEG files so i can't view them, anyone know of a MPEG viewer that i can use to view these(and in future, other MPEG files)?

If you know how to use blender, you can try jessethemidget's Blender AATools for the .mod files (which seem to be recognized as MPEG files on your computer), there's a thread about it here, and he also made a tutorial.
