Dedicated Server on Mac?

Post by Lament »

I cant seem to get DS to work on my mac (OSX Leopard or tiger)
it only opens console, and it says something like "Language Brirish english not found" and the process stops.

Can anyone help me to get it to work?
tnx :)

Yes, you need to run the server from the console after cd'ing to the directory it is in.

Could someone who knows the proper MACish speech add this one to the FAQ?

DDMJ (on a different post on this forums a few months ago (that you probably could've found if you used the search button)) wrote:Hehe, this is actually very easy to run the dedicated server on a mac. Here's how:
  • 1. Open up Terminal ( Macintosh HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal )
    2. In the terminal window type (without the quotes & don't forget the space): 'cd '
    3. Drag the 'Armagetron Advanced Dedicated' folder into the terminal window
    4. Press Enter
    5. Drag the 'armagetronad-dedicated' file ( Armagetron Advanced Dedicated -> armagetronad-dedicated ) into the Terminal window
    6. Press Enter
That's it & yes, you will have to do this each time, but it's rather easy :P.

It's an unofficial patch (now a source branch, but still unofficial), there are no binaries, you'll have to compile it yourself and you'll need some (freely available) tools for that. Good news is that since you're on a Mac, you can follow the Unix instructions.
