I seem to remember reports that in dual core systems, the timers on each core aren't synchronized. When the OS decides to switch an application from one core to another, it takes the information about time from the old core and tries to apply it to the new one, causing a hiccup. Think of it like jet lag for the computer. You left Madrid and it was 9am and flew to New York, where you arrive and it's 12 noon, but the flight was 8 hours long. You just lost some time there and so you're body's confused. In this case though, the application has lost a few milliseconds, but enough to confuse it.
(Can someone verify this? Or am I sprouting garbage?)

Download the task manager? I presume open?
Probably right-click on Armagetron in the task manager and look if you see anything like affinity, then uncheck all but one of the checkboxes in the window that appears. I haven't touched any machine running Windows for more than a few minutes in ages, so I can't tell everything in full detail.
