Window minimises randomly from Full Screen mode

Post by dopple »

Hi there. Just wondering if anyone has ever had this issue?
I am using Ubuntu Feisty Fawn and installed Armagetron Advanced using Synaptic.
I'll be playing online for about 15 mins - half an hour and then without warning (usually during a tight, fast paced duel), my screen minimises from Full screen mode and I have to click it in the task bar to re-maximise it. Fortunately, auto pilot kicks in and the game keeps running so unless I'm in a battle, I usually survive but this really nips my box (annoys me).
Would running armagetron from the cli resolve this?
Thanks

as far as i've seen ubuntu distributes some strange-modified version of arma and i have no clue why they did these...your problems could come from that...

do you see just when you join a game that « <you> wants to play for <the team/guy who is on top of the score table> on the next respawn » ? i've seen many doing that and they all said it was done automatically and that their arma comes right from the ubuntu repos

It does indeed epsy, but as far as I remember it's only when I enter a game which uses respawn (Sorry if this states the obvious  ). I might try un-installing it and re-installing it from the site itself. I will post back later tonight if this doesn't resolve the problem.

Sounds a lot like either you consistently accidentally press the fullscreen toggle button, or a screensaver kicking on.

i'm still wondering why the client tends automatically to join the leading team when entering a server...

Seems to me it would be more balanced if new players automatically joined the losing team.

We've been rounds over this one, but here we go again. :)

Since the new player usually screws up the team, it's more balancing to put him on the team that has the lead.

Well, that's not true, but it's funny!

Pfff! I was trashing on Epsy, questionning his skill in the game, making references that his client thinked he <pejoratif adjectif> so much that he placed him in the leading team for balancing purpose. You see, that's the problem with native speakers. They always misunderstand what you are saying.

me neither...i was just wondering why ubuntu made that auto-join thing...it happens even in unusual context, when team_max_players = 1...

Also, The screen minimises when I'm not touching the keyboard. I've selected the "keep window active" option.
