Where to buy Lightcycle toys?

Post by Green_Hornet »

Hi all,

I´m looking for a nice Lightcycle toy for my desktop.
Do you know an online shop, where I can buy such a cool TRON toy?

Thanks, Jan

Hi Green_Hornet!

Wow, kick ass, I'd buy one too!

Sadly, this looks like a hand-made model. I base this assumption on the following:
a) The nob on the front wheel has paint spilling a bit over on the black part on the wheel. This suggest hand painting. The rest of the job is amazingly done! Just look at the line where the front wheel meet the gray under-body. If it was manufactured in mass, that line would not be as well done. You feel the love and patience there.
b) Behind and around the exhaust under the cabin, you can feel the paint to be sprayed (textured) while the rest of the model is more even. Mass produced might be more even in quality, ie: all smooth or all bumpy. (*)
c) The front wheel sit on a perpendicular line, and the cycle is not flat on a parallel line. While this could have been the product of an intelligent graphic designer, the chance that said person doesn't have a dumb boss canceling such a fine detail are slim. Hence I believe it is a one person job.
d) The trail behind the cycle is mostly white. The boss mentioned previously would have forced it to be mostly red, believing that it would sell better.
e) The plate cutting is visible. I guess in a mass production it would be possible to sand or pass the edge on a rotor to avoid lawsuit in the USA due to the edge. (*)

I might sound negative or critical about it, but I actually really really like it. If i didn't, I would not have spent so much time studying every parcel ! ;)

I'd love to be wrong, and be able to buy such model!

That first model looks awesome. It'd be something cool to keep on the desk for the rest of time.
