compatibility with vista?

Post by IkiLLaLLBlondes »

well i havent installed aa since i installed vista

anyways i decided to do so today, so downloaded and installed it
however, there were some strange problems upon attempting to play the game

1. all floor textures are black with little square dots surrounding the current bike in view
2. the wall is white

but the main one is that i cant seem to get above 12fps, and lag wherever i play ..
even on the local game, my fps max is 18

back when i was xp, i was maxing about 120 - 150 fps on aa ..
last time i was on aa before today was about 6 months ago

wondering if this is an issue with vista

You should get real drivers for your video card.

no you don't have the real drivers. i'm assuming it is an nvidia card(what a pain in the butt to install on Vista. first you must remove the device from the system devices then i'm not sure if you can install the driver right away or not you may have to wait for vista to find it (log off log back on) then install it. i just remember you can do everything the same 2 times and 1 time it will work and the other time it will not. Another reason why not to buy VISTA(pain in the butt to put the real drivers on it)

EDIT: Well it could be this

did you instaill the real drivers before of after tron if after tron then just delete c:/users/<you>/app data/var/roming/armagetron/user.cfg .

restart armagetron it will tell you your video cards and work just fine.

The most important thing is that the drivers you install must come directly from NVidia/ATI, and not from Microsoft. The drivers handed out via Windows Update did not support hardware accelerated OpenGL the last time I checked, and AA needs OpenGL.
