hey one of my names start out with ß but it doesnt show up so i put a . infront of it so it shows and evey1 can see its a b on the score and on the grid but when it shows my pos on the ladder it shows the b as an s..so it goes .s has been moved down to postion 16 on ladder. why and can i fix it

because that "B" letter youre using is a german character that stands for 2 s's, which is why it shows up as an s.

Some of the "weird" characters get replaced to similarly looking characters for some displays. That's because we want the server admin to be able to kick players based on their names, and they can't do that if the players name contains characters that are not on everyone's keyboard.

That B is also a beta sign...2nd letter of the Greek alphabet

Meh, it's not.

The first one is a beta (β), while second is a German sharp s (ß).

The one in latin-1 and therefore the one you find in arma is a German sharp s, not a beta. Who would put a beta in a charset without putting in an alpha (or in fact, all Greek letters)?

Edit: looking at the ß in 0.2.8.x, I've got to admit that the big font's version does have a slanted upwards stroke and extends a bit below the baseline. It's not a closed shape, however, and the small font's version is definitely a sharp s. Does anyone want that to be fixed?
