I can just imagine bad things happening from making the servers private. The reward is nowhere near the risk.

It's a recommendation. Consider this a reason teams have to declare a home server. Not the only reason, just one reason of many. Home teams are responsible for ensuring there is no outside interference to the games, so smegheads that login and cause trouble are the home team's responsibility. If it causes them to lose the game, then too bad. If it causes them to win the game, then visiting teams will be expected to complain, and show a recording, and then the home team could wind up penalized. So I make the recommendation that servers be private instead to avoid these problems, but it's up to the server admins.

Here's my previous post that got pushed back a page:

The calendar has been adjusted and is mostly final. The only changes available now are on the two weeks where there are games scheduled at z-man's. Other games are now set in stone. :)

Also, I dropped GMT references in favor of UTC. The difference is a maximum of 1 minute, so it's only a cosmetic difference. I added a London time column as a sanity check.

And if you use a program that can retrieve a remote ical file:

http://www.google.com/calendar/ical/dav ... /basic.ics

This last is recommended because then your calendar application will adjust the times for your timezone automatically. But it's only useful if you already use a calendar application to manage your time, I think. ;)

This is a bump to trigger email notifications to folks who've posted here so they can go read the afl settings thread.

Ok, I still want team captains to come to #afl and talk to me before games start, but due to circumstances somewhat beyond my control, I haven't been as available for conversation this weekend as I'd intended. So here are the three pages team captains need to make sure they understand: (questions posted here, I'll try to keep the pages revised as needed to explain)

http://wiki.armagetronad.net/index.php? ... _Procedure
http://wiki.armagetronad.net/index.php? ... rpretation
http://wiki.armagetronad.net/index.php?title=AFL_Rules

Those three pages should answer most questions about how this should work.

What if theres no-one available to take a recording? And would you need both screenshots and a game recording?

I thought while readin the Rule interpretation, that some of the players destined to play are known trash-talkers. Now if this happens to get uber irritating, to the point of almost intolerable, would using /admin silence be an appropriate punishment for the rest of the game?

When I record using 0.2.8.2.1, I've noticed that about every 3 or 4 minutes, there's an aweful timer hickup. I'll probably just open up 0.3 and record through that, but then how do we convert it from .rec to something editable?

No recording of the x vs ct match, I was kicked near the end of match 1... so sorry about that.

If someone else picked up screenies, I'll post them later.

Is there a special place to post match results? Tards vs. KoD ended with a rather clear victory for KoD in two matches, here's a spectator recording done with 0.2.8.2.1.

Naw..If you want a science experiment you should go on a smurf name and ask random players to list their top 3 ass****/complaining players and I will bet about 75%+ will list Rico.

SP beat ooPS 2:0 but for some reason im looking for where everyone is playing and finally i go custom connect because sp and oops usually play on sundays and i put in their server and there is flash ashitaka and whatup at 18:30 GMT. whatup won the first match 1v2 then i entered and flash left and we won 2nd 2v1...The thing is I can't speak for oops but all of our players were planning to go to fortress test server when oops were going to a private server. I'll talk to the people that were supposed to show and see whats up.
