Tron Summer Festival

Post by AdyLucifer »

Lots of Deejays, rock bands, and good music , in an arma server,yes it is possible,Mettalica playing arma and streaming online!
Err, out of jokes now ;)
I thought about making some kind of competitions for this summer, on summer we all play more and need entertainment so it would be nice making a set of tournaments agrouped under the "tron summer festival" name,my basic idea was making something different, like a sumo map with one unique zone , and all the players on it, or a sumo with 8 zones, so its 1v1 with 16 players, and it would be team based,players like teamwork so it'd have to be team based.
I also thought about fortress, well The 32 players limit on cafe is very nice, but when there are more than 18 players your team gets messy,then it would be good making a four fortress tournament with 32 players limit, so 8 for each team as max, and standard fortress settings, lol, let me explain this mess down here:

-Whats it? ->A set of tournaments for this summer
-What style is it?-> the most variate styles, including sumo and fortress, with NON standard settings (i mean not the 4 zones sumo or the 2 zones fortress, the rubber and those settings , standard)
-Team or individual?->always team, makes it way nicer

The finalists of the tournaments would have to fight on a normal fortress server, such as café.
I just want to make this summer different, the TWC wont happen again, and the ladle is not enough, we need something different.
PLEASE , if you have some ideas about any kind of tournament we could add to the list, say it here, i just said those 2 possible ones, but please add more, we need to make it together so we will enjoy it more,i dont want to make this my idea or my tournament, just let it be ours,and lets make it well :)

With lucifers tounry going on I don't think anyone will want to play in another one, unless everyone has completely no lives and can play this 4-5 times a week

tronstock

I would enjoy a sumo round with 32 players. The bigger the better.

We have more players than last year, and trust me Summer is when people play tron, especially on the weekends here is why.

Not only is school out, but generally over the summer you can hang out whenever you want, people like me then do my "life" during the week and save time for tron ladles and clan wars etc.

Also what is really on T.V. Summer is the worst time for shows as well as there is no sports on except pathetic Baseball. During the fall I'm busy on sundays xD watching my, well still pathetic Lions.

I think it would be EASY to pull off 2 tournaments a week, 8 a month, and much easier to do during the summer.

Already in Place:

Ladle
TST
CTF Ladle
Dog Fighting Tournament

Easily put in place:

Wild Fortress Ladle
Medium Rubber Tournament (DDL)
Tron World Cup (Basically would be the same thing as the Ladle except a different team situation)

That leaves one more and there you have every single weekend day you can have the chance to play in the tournament. I don't know if this corresponds with your idea at all Ady with busting out the tourneys for the summer but I think the competition this could bring will really help the game. (Because what's the % of the people that wait a whole month to play the Ladle)

You left out AFL. :) I'll check the wiki for what we're planning on scheduling, but we should all be trying not to schedule events at the same time if we can avoid it.

Unless the event doesn't appeal to players in the other event and vice versa, in which case there's no conflict. Only conflict is when many players want to play both events and have to pick one or the other. (I'm following Durka's example where he schedules TST to not conflict with the Ladle, here)

Yes I did leave it out, but I did not forget, because the AFL is supposedly planned for every Sunday. Therefore have these other 4 tournaments planned for 3:30-4:00 EST like they are now and have the AFL either earlier or later.

ko. We're also planning on Tuesdays, I think, because sundays will conflict with the ladle and tst.

Slightly different topic, are you playing for SP in the AFL? Someone needs to tell SP they're still short a player... ;)

@Crisis:
A sumo with 32 players would be probably a bit laggy, I meant a team- sumo with 8 zones, so there would be 8 1v1s, and 8 team blue players,8 team gold ones.But 32 players in a 4-fortress server would be nice.

@Psyko:
Yup you did not follow my idea, lol, i was trying to start some new tournaments but with those you wrote there its enough i guess, maybe one more.
I've heard about the ladle and the TST, but the CTF ladle and Dogfigh... arent that popular..

@Lucifer
Yes you are right, most of our members dont even know whats the AFL, but We are already taking care of it, thanks :)

Wild Fortress Server would be a nice choice to make a tournament, its enjoyable by both novices and not-so-novices. :)
Medium Rubber Tournament (DDL)-Well,I dont know if meshing rubber with sumo/fortress would be a good idea, most of the fortress players dont play rubber,so it would be making 2 big teams- rubber players and fortress players, and dont know if its good..

Tron World Cup (Basically would be the same thing as the Ladle except a different team situation)
The tron world cup .. i really like it, but the last twc, me and dez saw how there were 7 registered players for a country and then only 1 showed up at the match, i guess we can do it, but first we need to know if there are enough players for each country, lets open a wiki page for it and let people register there,and we should write some strong rules to avoid complications.

Possible tournaments?I'd love a "32 player four fortress" server to do a tornament there, also that sumo thing i was talking about before, the 8 1v1s..

thank you all for sugesting and taking part in this, hopefully we'll make this summer a bit different :)

Yeh signed up just now..

The CTF ladle was played on i think a monday for the 1st one. there was like 12 people or so that participated. I would have but I got kicked for some reason, I was going to alternate but I'm told the opposing team didn't know or didn't want me to :o

the Dog Fighting tournament I can host. There have been many attempts at it and really all have failed because of the organization. A guy from xzl is in the pre-stages of one right now but it already doesn't have a chance because it starts near 10 PM EST on a saturday night (how many people can honestly say they will be able to play in one of those and even play in multiple ones to make it kind of like the ladle)
