Want to start a new server
So, I want to start a new server... but there are a few problems.
I know how to make the settings for the server but everytime i restart it all settings are deleted --> how can I save them?? Or do I need a special program for making a server...
please help me
the problems go on, now i know how to save the settings. If I start the server I can join, but noone else.
I set talk_to_master 1
and the server supports 10 players
Why can nobody than me enter???

a resource in german: http://nixda.net/forum/thread.php?threadid=1031
and
http://nixda.net/forum/thread.php?threadid=987
explaining how to compile and run a dedicated server (on linux), saving the settings permanent.

But you could start a temporary server? Then you merely have run into the problem that the server, by default, quits after 24 hours if there is no activity. Either set DEDICATED_IDLE to 0 in your configuration, or use "/etc/init.d/armagetronad start" as root to run the server (assuming you are using Linux here).ichigo wrote:i couldnt keep it up as a pemanent server
Err, deleted? Like, erased from the hard disk? Or just shut down?ichigo wrote:and the sever got deleted of course

No. One day, almost all matter in the universe will have turned into very thinly distributed Hawking radiation, with no particle ever having the chance to see any other particle again, ever. So even if your server is still running then (inside the quantum states of one of the radiation particles, perhaps), nobody will be in range to play on it
What you probably really want to know has already been answered: edit your configuration file and add, this will keep the server up. I'm not a Windows guy, so I don't know how you can make it so that the server always starts when the machine is booting up.

Code: Select all
DEDICATED_IDLE 0
