The Retirement of nicolas.b

Post by nicolas.b »

hate to be a downer, but it's about time to retire from this game. one, you may notice i'm always complaining about smaque-talk; two, playing the game to succeed has become too much of a strain for me. i'm older (37), in somewhat frail health, and have noticed too many times how matches take a lot out of me. if i'm high on weed or boozed up, it's a smoother deal, but then i'm asking myself "why am i doing this to myself just to play a game?" in the end it's not really worth it. and i need to put up or shut up anyway.

tank, n54, locutus, iceman, marrow and others you have my huge respect for all the good work you have done on behalf of the game and the community. i really appreciate that. and i'll probably hang around the forums for a bit because i like the people here. maybe i'll find some way to contribute. and i'm sure i'll play a match or two occasionaly when i get the itch, but if i'm smart i'll just try to screw around mainly.

LOL, and my major accomplishment? i got over 100 matches won on 'goshdarn' under the handles "nicolas.b", "George W. Bush", and a host of other silly names.

This is some of the worst tron news I've heard in awhile. But, I'm sure everybody will respect your decision. I respect it. Also, I have a lot of respect for you too, nic.

I'm glad to hear that you will remain in the forums. You're always welcome here.

It was great fun playing against you. We had some great times. I hope sometime you decide to come back or at least play in the tournaments. Btw, I never knew you were the George W. Bush player, lmao!

So, all in all, this is a new era of Armagetron that we all are witnessing. I hope you stay to see it. Plus, we'd miss you if you didn't.

BTW, if there's one thing GWB would like, it's N54's cute animal smilies collection... are they online somewhere publicly for usage?

hehe well i only made four animals that are any good so far + a skullthingy, and i hadn't really thought about sharing and such yet but here they are:
Image <-- cat which can be found at http://home.broadpark.no/~porstvet/avat ... ey_cat.gif
Image <-- rat which can be found at http://home.broadpark.no/~porstvet/avat ... ey_rat.gif
Image <-- prairiedog which can be found at http://home.broadpark.no/~porstvet/avat ... rairie.gif
Image <-- starfish which can be found at http://home.broadpark.no/~porstvet/avat ... arfish.gif
Image <-- skull which can be found at http://home.broadpark.no/~porstvet/avat ... _skull.gif

at some point in the future i might move them into my main site somewhere.. hmm... i have copyright on them but anybody is welcome to use them for non-commercial purposes - i.e. George "Bushy" Bush can use'em but not Dick "Dick" Cheney...

*made absolutely no sense at all* don't mind me i'm a loony

N54, i am beginning to think you are a full-blown renaissance man.

anyways, big thanks! altho you make me kind of insecure with all your damn talent.

EDIT: gotta say the idea of having a praire dog smiley is brilliant. time for the cute little prairie dog race to get some well-earned recognition!

Yeah, when I was little (like 6-7) my family spen to summers in a row in Oklahoma, by Fort Sill... They got a lot of praire there, and the praire dogs were the greates. On another note, a few years ago my sister said she saw a very large rat in the backyard. My dad maintained it was a squirrel. Anyway... Maybe a squirrel smiley?
