Do you have access to Adobe Illustrator?
You can use sgv2aamap.

There's a topic on it here.

You really should familiarise yourself with making maps by hand though.

X11 is located as a custom package on the OS X install CDs/DVD. You should be able to run it over your existing installation (I have done it with a language package to get my local Classic to work); just make sure you don't trash it! I believe Apple also has an X11 download somewhere.

Ideally you shouldn't have to bother with the maps themselves, but it proves to be quite useful.

Go ahead and download Inkscape.

Edit: notice the times; this was a reply to Aang.

Edit 2: might as well reply to socks. No, Illustrator is an expensive commercial product.

Install X11, I guess. See one of my previous posts for more detailed information.

great, x11, the one thing i don't have and don't have access to. :x
Maybe there is another program that does svg files................

still not having x11 is getting annoying. and i can't download it, its to big, it'll blow our quota away. Or get it of the macosx install disk because i don't have it..... :x :x :x

It's the map version number. If you modify the map in any way you must bump the version number so the clients and server know that it has changed.
It also must correspond the line in the map:

Code: Select all

<Resource type="aamap" name="metal_slug" version="0.0.5" author="ed" category="wildfort">
So, in this case the map must be called:
metal_slug-0.0.5.aamap.xml
and be in directory:
ed/wildfort/

Well. you make the map in (edit)Illustrator (or Inkscape).
Save it as an sgv file.
Run the sgv file through sgv2aamap.
Copy the resulting text into a text file called something like stars-0.0.2.aamap.xml. That is your map.
Expect to have to do some editing by hand to this file to get it working correctly.
Good Luck.
