That's a Mac specific feature AFAIK. In Windows, alt- and ctr- combinations are often used as application hotkeys where the Apples use the Apple key instead, so they have the alt- combinations available for real characters. You can get some accented letters in Windows by switching to a keyboard layout with "dead keys", pressing ", then a, will produce ä, ' followed by e will produce é, and so on. For the more exotic characters, you'll need to use the character insertion tool. It won't work directly with Armagetron, you'll need to edit your user.cfg file in notepad.

You will need to edit your user.cfg file.

This is located in the var folder ( C:\\Documents and Settings/your_username/Application Data/Armagetron/var )

Now open the file called user.cfg. Scroll down quite a ways untill you see: PLAYER_1 yourname

This is where you put the funky letters (most of the ansi characters work for this).

Save the file and open Armagetron. Now your name is pimped out :P.

P.S. If some of the symbols don't work, try using the ones from here. I'm pretty sure that all the ones that I put on there work in game, if not, then about 99% ;).

Heh, that's the tool the world has been waiting for :) It doesn't seem to do anything with z, though.

I thought in Windows you could do Alt+code to get those characters up.

It's text, so use a text editor.

open it in Notepad.

Tank > you can do the Alt codes on windows, but they don't work in the Arma client itself.

No. If you're using 0.3.0, the file is called user_3_0.cfg so you can use 0.3.0 and 0.2.8 without getting configuration conflicts. It only exists if you have run Armagetron at least once. It should be in c:\Documents and Settings\<your user name>\Application Data\Armagetron\var.

I'm looking in my program file and don't see the <my username> folder. How should I go about this?

It won't be in the program folder, but your home folder instead. Follow this link and look for your OS to see where the file should be located.
