illlogical crash

Post by Format C »

Well, first of all Hi, I'm german and the following problem is already difficult to explain in my mother tounge

Ok i'll try my best english:

Everytime I fight a close duel with another player I'm usually faster than the other one. And then when I'm about 10 fields ahead and turn left/right I crash into his wall instead of he crashes into my wall!

Thats simply not logic! How can he suddently teleport 10 fields forward? :o

At first I thought it was because the lag, but other players kill me with the same strategy when they're only 5 fields ahead.

So, am I the only one with this problem or do the other players just know that they must turn when they're about 30 fields ahead on their screen?

I hope it was understandable.

It is something we call 'lag'. Go here and see if that answers your question... if not, someone will be able to help.

It also depends on how far you are from their wall, not just how far ahead... Also, in these cases, what does it report your ping as?

As I said, it was always a very close duel and I was always faster. Sometimes so close that he touches my wall. And 10 fields ahead should be adequate

I got 768k DSL and a very good Ping (between 80 and 120)

how long have you played the game?

do you stay on a single server for a long period of time?

have you noticed this same type of behavior on other days?

I play at "Jodas Wild Teams" and "Tigers Network" since one month. And even on other servers its still the same problem.

thank you, but i was also interested in how long in one session you stayed on a single server. let me explain:

i understand the problem you descibe, and so whenever i jump onto a server i need to spend a few deaths trying to figure out exactly WHERE i am in relation to the average enemy bike. for example, sometimes i look like i'm a little behind and find that when one of us turns it's the OTHER guy that dies, and sometimes i am clearly ahead OMS (on my screen) and yet I'M the one who dies. so it's necessary to find out how much of a margin for error you have in the beginning so that you can base your timing on that for all the remaining games.

also, it seems that as you stay on longer in one session the lag gets a bit evened out between players, so whatever your advantage/disadvantage it should become less pronounced in time.

once you have a handle on these factors you can get a really good feeling for what is 'safe' and what is 'unsafe'. and pay close attention to your rubber gauge and you can see just how far into a wall or trail you went without dyiing- that will tell you a lot of info right there.

hope that helps. :)

It's all in your finger tips... but sometimes those don't work either. :P

Finger-lag is a horrible, horrible affliction. We should start a charity!
