Mosquito's dang bugs. None here in Toronto that I know off

Subject: FW: Insect Repellent

It's about that time of year again & I thought this might be helpful for you.

OK, mosquitos...prepare to be repelled!!!!!

Use Bounce Fabric Softener Sheets...Best thing ever used in
Louisiana..just wipe on & go...Great for Babies

Bob, a fisherman, takes one vitaimin B-1 tablet a day
April through October . He said it works. He was right.
The odor the tablet gives out through your skin
(YOU can not smell it) repels mosquitos, black flies,
no seeum's, and gnat's. It does not work on stinging insects.
Hasn't had a mosquito bite in 33 years. Try it.
Every one he has talked into trying it works on them.
Vitimin B-1( Thiamine Hydrochloride 100 mg.)

Kenn said NPR reports that if you eat bananas,
the mosquitos like you, something about the banana oil
as your body processes it. (Maybe they need the potassium too- lol)
Stop eating bananas for the summer and the mosquitos
will be much less interested.

This is going to floor you, but one of the best
insect repellents someone found (who is in the woods
every day), is Vick's Vaporub.

Plant marigolds around the yard, the flowers give off
a smell that bugs do not like,
so plant some in that garden also to help ward
off bugs without using insecticides.

"Tough guy" Marines who spend a great deal of time
"camping out" say that the very best mosquito
repellant you can use is
Avon Skin-So-Soft bath oil mixed about
half and half with alcohol.

Mix your own:
20 drops Eucalyptus oil
20 drops Cedarwood oil
10 drops Tea Tree oil
10 drops Geranium oil
2 oz. carrier oil ( such as Jojoba )
Mix together in a 4 oz. container. Apply to skin as
needed avoiding the eye area. Keep out of reach
of children. Test on a small area of skin for sensitivities .
Experiment with different percentages of essential oil.

One of the best natural insect repellants
is made from the clear real vanilla (not the grocery store
vanilla extract which is mostly alcohol). This is the pure
vanilla that is sold in Mexico. It's cheap there if you know
of someone that lives there or in the US close to the border.
If not, health food stores usually carry it or can order it
for you. I use it half vanilla and half water and find
that it works great for mosquitoes and ticks,
don't know about other insects.
when all else fails

Get a frog!

Well done free! That is the sort of response I have been looking for. There are some great advices there that I will be happy to share with others. I hope that this West Nile Virus thing does not get too out of hand. It just goes to show you the signs of the times. 8)

Had a lot of things go bad in the 80's. Big problems in the fam, which are now long gone. Had worked for a place for 15 years then went bankrupt and was hard to find another good job. Thats still going on now but the job I have now is ok. Plus other things.
Only one good thing I remember from the 80's is that Lunacy was born :D :D :D

Okay, so I was born in 1980, so even by the time they were over, I was still not very old, but still. The 80's produced some of the coolest Saturday morning cartoons ever... Transformers, He-Man, The Smurfs, The Pink Panther (though I think that may be slightly earlier than the 80's), Brave Star... God, the list goes on and on... *sigh* ahh, well, I suppose I'll have to make due with crappy Kazzaa downloads...

(Oh, and may I also point out that Tron and Knight Rider were both introduced in the 80's. Any decade that produces TWO shows like those can't possibly be ALL bad!)
You're MINE bi...Aww, dammit!

Knight Rider and Transformers, I LOVE IT... Although i only spent 1 year and 2 months in the 80s, i have seen it a lot... Also the A-Team is cool, well at least, i watched it all the time :P I always hated the Smurfs though(we call them De Smurfen) but we had "Bassie en Adriaan" introduced... nothing is like that... they just quit making shows... ask lacky and anyone from Holland about them and they'll agree with me...
