If you already got there, try to be more specific; I'm not all that telepathic.

You need to put the talk_to_master config into the configuration files; typing it when the server is already running won't do much good.

For a step-by-step guide to set up port forwarding, see
http://www.portforward.com/english/appl ... 3index.htm
Just click on the router model you've got. It's for a different game, but our ports are a subset of their ports.

It also won't hurt to read our FAQ from this question to the end:
http://wiki.armagetronad.net/index.php/ ... e_wrong.3F

And if you give us your IP address and your server name, we may actually check whether something is wrong by looking at the master logs.

Last hint: write properly. Your spelling suggests you're either stupid or lazy (I know you aren't), neither being a key qualification for running a server. This increases the chance that we simply will stop helping you at some point because we consider it fruitless.

Actually, I'll stop helping you now, not because of that, but because I'm off the net for a week and need to finish packing up.

Yet another port forwarding problem =/

Post by DDMJ »

You might not be able to see it on the master list for you, but other people may be able to see it.

See if you can find it on one of the server browsers: here or here.

You can also try giving out your IP and server port and ask people to try and custom connect.

or

You might not have your ports forwarded either. This is a part of what I wrote some time ago about port forwarding. It will help:

-----------------------------
How To Port Forward
-----------------------------

If you connect to the internet thru a router, you will need to forward ports on your router in order for it to let the server pass thru your router and get on the actual internet (master server).

Most people ask? Do I have a router? Well, this is how you find out:

Assuming you have high-speed internet, you use an ethernet cable, or airport (wireless) to connect to the internet. Now, the question is, do you connect the ethernet cable directly to your modem.

What's a modem? Well, some modems are made by motorolla and company's like that. It has status lights on it that tell you if you are sending and receiveing packets (basically if you're receiving internet).

What's a router? Well, there's an ethernet cable connecting the router to the modem. Router's are made by linsys, d-link, netcom and other companies. This also has status lights, but these just show if Computer A is connected to Slot A in the router and on the internet.

99% of the time that your server doesn't show up on the master list is because you haven't opened your ports. You do this by port forwarding.

------------------
DIRECTIONS!
------------------

I had trouble port forwarding also. This is what you need to do:

Follow the directions on this site:

http://www.portforward.com/english/appl ... 3index.htm

You won't be able to forward all the ports, but be sure to get port 4534 in there. Ports 4530-4540 should be sufficient.

TCP 4534 and UDP 1535? Do you have to have both lately? Anyway, try entering 4534 in the UDP field, if the interface looks like that indeed.

Just checking, have you tried the ROUTER's admin name and password? It's different from all other passwords. What type of router (Brand, model) do you have? They often come with standard default passwords.

The DI-524? Then do what that page says, but make only one entry that looks like this:

Name: Armagetron Advanced
Private IP: 192.168.1.246 or whatever it is
Protocol type: UDP
Private port: 4534
Public port: 4534
Schedule: always

Besides giving the default name/password (admin with a blank password) this won't help your login trouble, but it will help once you have access.

According to some obscure list, the default username is "Alphanetworks" and the password is "15_di524"; according to this document, which is a good read for securing your network, the username is "admin" and the pasword is "" (or, in other words, just blank).

Another page says user "admin", password "admin" is the default login.

Sorry, but if the default password doesn't work, that means you or someone else changed it. If you don't know who that may ben there may be a way to reset your router to factory defaults again; check your manual for that. Thinking again, check your manual first for the real default login data.
