looks like we have 4 teams for tonights ladle
so we will start with semifinals at 8.15pm GMT
http://wiki.armagetronad.net/index.php/ ... enge_Board
could team captains please visit the armagetron irc channels before the games
to finalise exactly where the games are being played
perhaps 30mins before the first games
looks like we are going to have good games tonight
a lot of good players
and some tough teams out there
can server owners please set up some kind of recording spectator thingy
and can i also ask for players to note specific events in the game
so that
if we do a vid report or something
we have personal recommendations from players
who wish to highlight specific individual skill or teamwork
good luck all
and may the best team win
so we will start with semifinals at 8.15pm GMT

for all tronic monkeys:
please collect at
2020 team challenge
at 7.30 gmt
so we can establish positions
and perhaps knock together a game-plan
there are plenty of good players in opponent teams
and i believe we must work together as a team
if we stand any chance of winning the 7th tronic ladle

weird
after so many competitions
we are still confused as to when we play
i suppose it is possible to play at the quarterfinal time
but that has never happened
unless it is in fact the quarterfinal
if all the players turn up
then sure you can all play
otherwise
semifinals are at 8.15pm
since the consistent thing is
finals at 9pm gmt
everything is central to the finals kicking off at 9pm gmt
because that is the most important game
and so everyone can plan their evenings for that eventuality
otherwise
the times will always be changing depending on the number of teams
and people will only be able to find out on the last day
this way
we should be able to know well in advance
sorry about the confusion
it is meant to be easier...
hope it works out tonight

Here's my stuff:
http://www.thp.uni-koeln.de/~moos/tronstats/ladle7/
The recordings were done with default settings this time. Resulting messup: I had "keep window active" off during the semi, which results in unstable framerates. Not too bad. I also was not quick enough to push away some kick polls, you can do that later when playing them back. Two matches slipped into a single recording.
I'm glad you stuck to the timetable. I would have missed the semi otherwise.

I cannot watch it using v0.3. Shall I use v0.2.8.2.1?z-man wrote:Here's my stuff:

i look forward to seeing some good games
since the one i was in was unmentionable
hmmm....
you know the way we have a kick system
and if a player does something really stupid or ugly
we can pool together to kick
well
i think that demonstrates teamwork
for example
i remember when pimp was harrassing me
and only when i was in zman's server
surrounded by good trusted players
that his antagonism could be countered
similarly
i think we need to pull together when we do these ladle things
we need to work collectively as a group
after all
this tournament is self-organised by players
not by me
not by admin
but each and every player
and if a single player starts badmouthing the admin
things just start getting ugly real fast
the tronic stuff is not centrally controlled
it is not parents providing stuff for spoilt kids
please consider this for the next ladle
more input in making sure it runs smoothly
and respecting the admin of servers
opposition
and of course own team-mates
i feel we can do better

Yes. I clarified that on the page.Sasha wrote:I cannot watch it using v0.3. Shall I use v0.2.8.2.1?
Durka: Whatever the players want. I can disable it whenver both teams say it should be disabled. I won't listen to followup "yeah, get rid of it" posts here (possibility of vocal minority), though, so don't bother.
Background info on that: on the TuI vs SP match, there was one situation where TuI did explicitly not take the winzone, but SP did shortly afterwards. My personal opinion is that this was a big mistake by TuI, but as 2020 says, this tournament is run by you all, and my opinion does not matter here.
The main thing I see is that always playing a knockout competition is not a good thing. It gets too... usual. I think some kind of championship competition and making the ladles more spaced (two/threee months maybe more?) would be a nice idea.
I think in a knockout system it sure proves who was the best team then, but hey, what if a team who lost one game would win against all other teams? What if they were having a bad day? Having a championship (point based) would be IMHO a good idea. Perhaps that whole thought of "Kings Of the Grid"... After all, theres already a domain
Also, it would benefit teams that consistently make good games, not only "that day" with "that conditions" with "..."
What do you guys think?
