Sorry for not really replying till now, anyway.

I'm kind of busy right now with exams, but i should have spare time next week and i hope to have the first fight for the throne maybe the week after. I'll hopefully post the rules here this weekend to see if they are 'alright'. The thing i've been working on the last couple of days is making something which takes the server logs and spits out all these stats, kind of like what sasha did but instead of spitting out an excel file it puts it in a database. I think having statistics would make things a bit more exciting. First time I'm using php and the first programming outside of my 'numerical physics' class, so progression is slow.

It's not really needed so i guess I'll focus a bit on some kind of easy to use challenge board first.

Also, I registered a domain so i can easily tell people where to go to if they want to play.

in sumo earlier, i was talking to newbie who had come up with the idea for a friendly fortress match. I then suggested, after 16 players had signed up (i.e. 8v8) the 2 teams were generated randomly, apart from maybe 2 people willing to be captains. It was then suggested that the random generation be used for KotG as well, as in some cases, a brilliant team could not be beaten for months on end, in theory.

questions/comments/alterations ?

thx :)

You mean, you would just write down all the players who want to participate and then pick randomly two teams? Sounds interesting, I would try it.

I'd try it, too, if the way the teams are chosen is somewhat transparent.

well like i said, the way i would see it is, say 24 people registered, thats 3 teams of 8 or 4 teams of 6... a person would then nominate themselves as a potential captain, and then the teams are randomly selected from the remaining players. maybe some kind of simple generator could be made, a small application in vb perhaps.

It could be like sports in school. Flip a coin see who picks first, then each captain takes turns to choose their team.
Would probably set fairer teams than randomly chosen ones. It would be too, well, random.
Bet I get picked last :(

We've done this last one, actually, back before there was fortress but there was a team server (my old team server). It was fun. :)

4 Teams of like 5 or 6 would be better. Why plan for a long time just to have 1 game of 8 vs 8. 2 games would be fun. I'm up for the randomly chosen stuff :P
